Quest 3/ Air Link stopped working/ No connection to PC/ PC found but Start Button is greyed out...

I've been using the Quest 3 for almost 8 months now, and before i used the Quest 2 without any problems via Air link/same router/same PC...

This Saturday I'm playing Borderland 2 VR and on Monday the Quest 3 can no longer connect to the PC without any reason.

If I want to activate Air Link via the Q3, my PC is displayed in the Air Link Menü as before, but the Start Button for Air Link remains gray and it says "not connected".

I've already tried everything:Hard reseting the Headset, factory reset, router reset, PC & Quest 3 reset, Meta Quest Link restart via the beta menu in the PC Oculus APP, repair function of the Meta Quest APP, firewall completely switched off but nothing...

Then I read that you should completely delete the Oculus software with all folders and reinstall it.
I did that and lo and behold it worked, for exactly ONE day....

When I booted up my PC today and started Quest 3, the same problem...
The PC is displayed but the start button to start Air Link remains gray and it is not connected.
WHY?
Do I have to completely uninstall the software every time, including all folders, then reinstall it in order to be able to play via Air link for exactly ONE day, which has worked for over 3 years before (Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest 3) without any problems?

The connection works immediately using the original Meta Quest Link cable.
Virtual Desktop APP works also...

PLEASE Help!

Hello everyone I just got word from engineering that they have rolled out a fix for this issue!

If you are experiencing a grayed out button when attempting to launch Air Link or Link, please follow these troubleshooting steps: Put on the Meta Quest headset. Go to "Settings" then select "System". Scroll down to find "Quest Link" and toggle it off, then back on again. Try launching Air Link or Link again.

If the issue persists after following these steps, please try restarting your computer and headset before trying again.

Please do not hesitate to come back to the thread and let us know if you're still experiencing this issue going forward!

Update 6/13/24

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a quick update. I've informed the engineers that even after a few hours, we still have several users experiencing the same issue. If you haven't already, please make sure to submit your bug reports

Update 6/26/24

With the launch of V66, a fix was issued that will roll out to everyone soon. Please check your headset system settings to ensure you are on the latest update. As always, please come back and let us know if you are still experiencing this issue after the update.

The future of home entertainment!

My Quest 2 also has this shows "No connection to PC" problem too, my Quest 2 info is:
Version: 65.0.0.547.341.596252018
Runtime Version: 65.0.0.549.344.596252017
It's also weird that if you reopen Quest Link, it'll match😑

However no probs with Virtual Desktop or Steam Link so that's something 🙂

This affects both Quest 2 and Quest 3 for v65 and v66.

Is this a problem with the meta quest app on the pc side? Downloading the software and choosing repair does not fix it, its very difficult to get the pin pairing sequence to start from within headset settings and then when I get into airlink, after exiting it acts as if the pin pair is invalid, greying out the launch button once again.

I hope Meta has put in the maximum effort to keep the people around who'll prevent attrition or further breakage, and who can actually correct this in a timely way.

edit: theres some strange behavior where quest link service on the headset (in particular on quest 3) doesn't appear to load correctly. and the poor behavior seems to stem from that.

its not the problem from the PC app.. its the firmware from the headset. its dealing with the Trust Certificates.

Meta is taking their sweet time fixing it.

Ye that sounds about right.
Also wasting a lot of time telling users to reinstall, reset etc.
Nothing our end will fix it so i recommend everyone just hold out until Meta get it sorted.
Don't waste your time trying.

Nothing has updated on my Quest 2 since the 12th except some apps. Problem with Air Link still exists.

I am lucky to have this thread appear in Google Search after a few hours of "googling". No status post from Meta, no notifications, no nothing. You just have to sit on your ass and wonder why all of a sudden a feature that was working perfectly for a couple of months is now not working.

Meta please, convince me not to disable automatic software updates on my Quest 3. For now, this seems to be the best way of keeping everything working as it should.

Software \ App updates you can disable but not firmware ... Those get installed like it or not and as the issue seems to be with V65 and V66 you may need the next one to fix the problem anyway.

It's possible to disable automatic updates, but you'll need to use ADB commands to do so. You don't need root access for this; ADB can disable the update process. However, I don't recommend it. Only those with experience should attempt this, and future updates are essential for security and compatibility patches. So, while it can be done, it's not advisable.

So, I guess I'm having the same problem?
I used Airlink with my Quest3 fine earlier this week. Wanted to do some VR gaming today, fired it up again and it won't connect. My computer shows in the list, but it says 'not connected'. I wasted way too much time trying to troubleshoot this before I saw this thread.

I even looked at a Wireshark capture of my Quest3 talking to my PC. Just 3-way TCP handshakes over and over again. SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK. They definitely don't seem to be talking right.

So are we saying that the problem is also with v66? I'm still on v65.

I'm on V66...I did a fresh install of Windows 11 and also a factory reset on the Quest...its worse now...after I click the launch button it goes to the black screen with the 3 dots and stays there...even tried on a different computer with same result...B.S

Mine was working an hour ago when I was playing VTOL VR. Then I take a break for an hour while my buddy got food and went to jump on again just to find out that out of nowhere and for no reason it won't connect no matter what I do. Restart computer, restart headset, double checking drivers, turning air link off and on.

Should've just paid the money for an index or something instead of this facebook garbage.

LOL ...
lets not get carried away.
I had far more issues with my Index than i have ever had with either of my Quests and throwing a dummy wont achieve anything. Steam Connect works just fine which is free as does virtual Desktop if you own that or even use a cable so your not dead in the water .. It will get sorted soon enough 🙂

Additionally, although the workaround is inconvenient, it remains a viable option. I'm confident this issue will eventually be resolved. However, the frustration stems from the fact that everything was functioning perfectly before the recent updates caused these problems. If it wasn't working well initially and then broke, it would be more understandable. But to go from working perfectly to not at all feels like a move Microsoft would make.

I highly recommend reading through the recent messages in this forum thread, as they contain several workaround fixes that users have found helpful. These temporary solutions might provide some relief until a more permanent fix is available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I hope you find the shared workarounds beneficial.
