Question

Random disconnecting after Meta Quest 3 v76 update (April 2025)

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone has been encountering issues after the last April update, around 24th April to be exact. I mainly use the headset with wired link to play VR sim racing. Before this update, I had absolutely no issue, shortly after the install, the VR connection is lost after about 15-30, after an intense session.

Is there any fix for this? I saw that there is no way to roll back the driver... which is quite a shame. I was so excited after I bought it and set it up, only to have it crash now every half an hour.

I tried Virtual Desktop, after closing all Oculus services. Yet the game still crashes with the exception 'DX device removed'. Apparently v76.1025 disonnects both USB and WiFi after a random time.

Have u guys tried connecting the headset to a USB-A port? Not an idea solution as the transfer speed is lower and you will experience artifacts but at least no disconnection for me so far.

MetaStoreHelp  V76 usb-c to usb-c connection is bugged. USB-c to USB-A produce no crashes so far.

Try the “non high-speed” USB-A port

    Sebastien.M forum IRacing :

I had a hard time trying to help my father with his Quest 3 since the update, this is the solution that worked for him.

    I found the solution here → https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/meta-quest-link-app-version-76-0-0-452-315-76-0-0-452-315/718541/31

Press Windows key, type services, run it.

Search for the Oculus VR Runtime Service in the list, change Startup Type from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start).

    I hope it helps !

I am getting very tried and frustrated with this issue. It has been a month now and I have sent many mails back and forth with support asking me to install the latest drivers and check another cable and so on (the standard basic reply copy-pasta). What is going on? Do we just settle for a product beging bricked and spending hours of our free time trying to explain to the makers of the product what they effed up themselves? This is getting ridiculous to say the least. Im looking forward to a big fat compensation after this is resolved.

i updated my software on the headset automatically and to this day today i have not experienced a single issue with my link cable. i play VR Sim racing using automobilista 2 on steam VR.. im not sure why others are having issues but it is widespread.. my rig setup is as follows: MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon MOBO, 64 Gig HyperXRam, Radeon 7900 XTX 24gig, Windows 11 pro, 4TB Samsung nvme, and my link cable, a cheap £20 cable that has a power supply point in the cable and they provided a charger with usb C cable, there is no magic sequence i follow, i just switch pc on and wait for everything to preload then launch metaquest app and load game from steam interface and select Steam VR and away i go, i play for hours with zero interuption. i hope they fix it for those who have an issue, i count myself very lucky im not having this issue and feel for those who do..

I had a lot of problems with the official cable and USB-C ports, but I haven't had any problems since using the INIU-DI 401 cable on a blue USB-A port.
From time to time, the Quest Link application takes a while to open, but that's it.
If you've tried the USB-C cable solution for the headset and the USB-A cable for the PC, I don't know if your problem is the same as the V76's.
So, buy an INIU cable and do a clean install of Quest Link. You'll remove everything, the program, and user data that's in Windows.
You won't get anything from Meta, don't get your hopes up!

So the cable I bought (the official meta cable for €150) is now useless? THIS IS INSANE!!

Also, when u play with this cable in the USB-A port I assume ur headset drains battery down to 0% (dead)?

Yes, it's sad about the Oculus cable, but it's true. I filed a warranty claim, received a brand new Oculus cable, and it doesn't work! I gave up after 40 minutes of searching and replaced the INIU cable, and it worked right away.
The INIU cable keeps your battery at 100% because you have to connect the Quest 3 charger to this cable.
I paid €26 for this cable...
Tap Amazon for the INIU DI-401.
You have to plug it into a blue USB-A port, not a red one.
