What Wifi 6e routers currently works bug free with the Quest 3?

Hi! Just wanted to post here to get a seperate thread going. As of today there is a major bug in communication between Quest 3 and certain types of Router models.

So let's get a list started on Wifi 6e routers that actually work. What Router do you have experience with being stable at 2400 Mbps in dedicated 6e mode?

Remember to post Router name and model and screen grabs/video from the Quest 3 showing the speed. (Turn on experimental wifi settings to do so.)

This is by no account a list that is for everyone. So far I found that some of the more expensive models between 350-700$/€ have been reported to work. So meta still has a major bug to fix. But if you can afford it, this might be is a way around the problem…

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

The bug explained:

There is a bug with negotiation rates with certain router models. Essentially AX and AXE models but more might also be affected. I have been investigating this bug since launch and finally both Meta and TP-Link have confirmed that the Quest3s negotiation protokolls with the routers is very unstable. This problem is totally unrelated to VD or AirPlay functionality, but it's here you'll notice the problem.

As of right now the Mbps can flux from approximately 1080 to 1900 on 6G and ocasinaly dip down below 800. Making it stutter and glitch in latency.

On 5G it will flux between 1080 and 420 Mbps making it essentially unusable in wireless PC streaming.

Both Meta and TP-Link are currently investigating the problem.

Meta has stated that the problem will be fixed with a firmware build in the near future.

If your experiencing this bug and want to follow its progress you can follow this seperate thread:

Hey everyone! Let's sum things up with a list of routers discussed in this thread. Keep in mind that these are personal recommendations, and success may vary based on your setup and location. It's advised to buy routers with return policies so you can test them yourself (purchase at your own risk).

  • ASUS GT-AX11000 PRO:

  • ASUS GT-AXE16000:

    • Amazon link
    • 6 GHz 160Hz – Small Fluctuations 2100-2400 Mbps. (But some have problems connecting to 6Ghz nett... maybe not related)
    • 5 GHz 160Hz – Stable at 2401 Mbps

  • Linksys Hydra Pro 6E Tri‑Band WiFi-6E-Mesh-Router:

  • ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000:

  • MSI Radix AXE6600:

    • Amazon link
    • Conflicting reports
    • 6 GHz 160Hz – Stable 2400 Mbps
    • Connection issues and Small Fluctuations 2100-2400 Mbps

  • ASUS RT-AX88U PRO:

  • ASUS RT-AX86U PRO:

  • Asus RT-AXE7800:

  • Xiaomi BE6500 Pro:

  • Puppis S1 - USB Bridge:

    • 5 GHz 160Hz 2401 Mbps stable but short range (No separate room play)
    • Some conflicting reports. This device is dependent on high speed UBS connections and some people have problems making it work.

Asus GT-BE98

unstable, sometimes I can see 6GHz, sometimes not... even if I did not change anything.
Settings:
Wifi 7 mode: disabled
Wifi 6Ghz:
cannel bandwidth 160MHz only (disabled on 5GHz)
Enabled PSC
WPA3

driving me nuts, router costs 900Euros

Hi all!
I just bought an ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000. And when I set the channel width to 160Mhz my Quest 3 doesn't see the Wi-Fi network. Any ideas?

UPD:
Okay, I've found out that the Control Channel must be set manually from 36 to 64. But I tried all available channels and it's extremely buggy, and the picture quality is too bad.
It shows that the transfer speed is 2401Mps though 🤣 I guess it's just a number

Yep, I have the same problem with both of the two Wifi 6e routers I have tried. Same problem with Wifi 6. Also I have ping spikes when playing Population One. It sucks, and I suspect maybe I got a bad Quest 3 (Wifi chip doesn't work well). There are lots of conflicting reports about routers working or not. So maybe it is the Quest 3 to blame. I sent mine in for a replacement yesterday. Hopefully that will fix it....... Air Link is unplayable, and it's not possible to play games competitively if the latency is not consistent (how do you plan your reaction time, if the latency is always changing). It seems to work great for 30 seconds after connecting, and then doesn't work properly. I also returned the Raxe300 Night Hawk router, as that didn't make much difference....

I will do more tests later.
I tried 80MHz bandwidth and different channels and it works okayish 😬
BUT I already have a cheap Xiaomi AX3200 and it works better than ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 (both with 80MHz).
Xiaomi costs €50 and Asus €250. Xiaomi works almost ideal, image is cleaner than with Asus, I can't see any artifact, almost no stutter. Transfer speed with 80MHz bandwidth is 1200Mbps, I thought 2400Mbps would be something unbelievable. For now I think it didn't worth it, simply do not upgrade to expencive router if everything works.

This unfortunately has been an ongoing problem for me on my QPro. The TP-Link AXE5400 continually cycles through connection speeds while connected, and will occaisionally lose the signal altogether for short periods.

I have a TPlink AX7800 AX95 V1 triband i have all 3 networks working 2.4ghz on channel 3 and the 5ghz and the 6ghz on the highest channels which are 64 for 5ghz and 128dfs for 6ghz i have recently been able to set them at them set at ax on both 5ghz and 6ghz wifi and 2.4  ax  channel streingth on high for all of them and i get good enough connection to play assetto corsa dirt rally 2 and the like but thats sat down in a sim rig with the router just behind a speaker and a monitor i get indicated 2400ghz but havent tested the telematry ingame if it fluctuates but as i said it gives good enough performance with sim rig sat down with game optimizer using virtual desktop and game optimizer set to 1600x???? i have uped it to 1800x1900 ni quest optimiizier 80fps and its till ok with dirt rally and graphics on high medium using a 13900k@5700 rtx 3070-8gb 150/800, 64gb 6400ddr this is with the latest updates installed on the wuest 3 ( Chekov 'should have spell corrected but thought it was funny when my mind clicked to Chekov in star trek sorry' ) it did not use to be like this it went very bed during several updates and would not connect above 1700 on 5ghz and 833 on the 6ghz , recently it seems to have sorted itself out and now connects at 2400ghz on both 5 ghz and 6 ghz  and games play ok sat down ( health means i cannot play games stood up like fps games waving my arms about in thin air but can manage holding a steering wheel for a few minutes at a time with reduced force feedback now and then)

Asus GT-BE98

wifi6e unstable and disconnecting, with beta firmware a bit more stable, but disconnects in about 2-4 minutes. I noticed when I am downloading data on quest, wifi do not disconnects during data transfer, but when data transfer finishes, disconnect happen within 2 minutes. For example I was connected about an half hour while downloading several quest games

Acer Predator Connect W6 - works without any issue on 6 GHz band (though my network is the only one 6 GHz detected, so with more networks near, situation could be different).

Xiaomi AX3600 - with the configuration that Quest 2 worked fine, Quest 3 had micro or terrible stutters depending on the time of day (so probably on the usage of other networks near me). When I fiddled with settings, I eventually got it to the point where Quest 3 only sometimes had some microstutters (changed 5 GHz network's channel to 80 MHz as 160 MHz resulted in terrible stutters since it always overlapped with other close networks, 80 Hz can be set so only ones futher away overlap with it).

I warrantied my headset, and it largely fixed the problems as I suspected. I no longer have ping spikes while playing population one. I still need to test Airlink more though. It seems my Q3 had a bunk Wifi chip/radio. I suggest sending back your headset for a new one to resolve these issues....

They didn't seem to acknowledge my Wifi issues for the warranty, as I sent it back also because my lenses were scratched up from using microfiber cloths designed for cleaning lenses. I think Meta wants to pretend the problem doesn't exist, in hopes that the word doesn't get out, as it could potentially cause a flood of returns of Quest 3 units, and also take some much needed cash out of Zuckerberg's pocket (he needs it for snacks on his lunch break).

Dont use microfiber clothes on the lensss unles sits brand new with out an contamination in  the microfiber yes they are the ebst fo cleaning them whenthey are new but the wirst for scracthing them when there dirty or have contaminants i use a soft cloth keptin a glasses case they dont get any bits in them and easily cleaned and also smooth as silk use a specific glasses cloth ask in specssavers .

if he recomends you get a microfiber say to him what i said " yea i know but they scratch the leneses like mad after a while causthey get bunged up, dont put them in the washer with dirty clothes either they need to be washed on their own as bitsfom clothes get on them i washed a clth with it i had wiped some sawdust up with after shaking it off in the bin i washed it with my microfibres and then i can just use them as rags as they picked all the bits of sawdust up deep into its fibres while in the wash so they are good for lint and sawdust removal from clothes when used in washer lol

There is a huge issue with access points not working with the 6ghz band (Wifi6e/Wifi7) with Quest 3 now. My EAP773 AP and U7 Pro both have issues showing the 6ghz band with the quest 3, it seems like my router only works if it's not bridged to anything. This is definitely a quest issue since my wifi6e devices work perfectly fine with my AP.
