No impressive VR app so far.

Similar to Augmented Reality, when it was first introduced, everyone thought it was cool but after so many years, we have not yet seen a successful application/game which convincingly makes good use of the technology.... I am afraid VR is having the same issue as Oculus Rift DK has been released for a while already, nothing is really impressive, practical and necessarily...

Do you agree?

    Nope, not at all.
I'm surprised you were confident enough to post such a question. No second guessing, or re-evaulation?
Sony entering the market? FB aquisition? 92M in investments prior? 'Presence'?
These are all things pointing heavily in the direction of the tech even if you haven't tried it.
    Do you work for AntVR?

    I guess "impressive" is subjective.

My first whole day I had the rift I tried out probably 20 demos, and I was impressed.

The longer I had the rift those demos became rather stale, because demos are limited, mostly just to look around. Missing currently are full experiences designed for VR. They will come.

DK2 will up the ante, and we'll see much better demos and further realize where VR is heading.

If you build the HMD, the apps will come.

There is some good stuff knocking about, but just like Pc games in general there is some really bad stuff aswell. The resolution in DevKit was what ruined it mostly for me, but as the resolution gets better so should the games etc.

Haven't tried it yet, but I can see myself playing eve valkyrie for hours with my friends that also have rift. I can't wait.

I also see potential for many MMO and social game concepts that will make the rift a thing of the future, today. But today, all we have are concepts and demos. You may have doubts, but I have a feeling vr will have a living, prospering future.

It's not perfection today, but there is massive potential.

Augmented reality might also have a future, we may just not have the technology or mindset to make it work just yet. Take Virtual Boy compared to the Oculus Rift, for example.

War thunder, I can't imagine what fun this game will be with the DK2 Rift, spent many a day getting nauseous
in this game when I got my first Rift last year.

I concur with Shockbolt. Put on top of that all the flight simulation type games; FSX, XPlane, Prepar3D...

Other 'applications' are placing a multi 360 camera mount center stage/court/field and charging Pay per view to sit at your home with a headset on and watch the event... or the crowd behind you.

And my point is, the kit has been around for a year, Oculus have one of the worlds best game developers on board and should have churned out something amazing for it themselves imo.

And they have- it's called the Rift Dk2 and its software known as Oculus SDK.

It seems like one is deserved, but really, if you're not impressed by it then you're not impressed. I find myself curious as to what DOES impress you.

    @Chung,

Sounds like you've formed your opinion and nothing we can suggest will change that. Out of interest, what's your definition of "impressive" and can you give an example of a VR app, real or imagined, that can satisfy that?
