Oculus app not working / black window / rendering?

Hi guys,

I was trying to install the PC App today. The installation worked quite fine. The moment when the VR says to establish the link in the VR and the rest have to be done on the Computer, my Oculus App starts.

I've updated the NVidia graphics driver and repaired the Oculus app. What else can I do? My firewall is off and there is no Virus Defender installed, the active Virus control from Windows is off.

We have a solution guys. Strikekat from discord posted a zipped file to downgrade the client version and it works!

You will need to download this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dprJ7QxIzyzb4jZC-H-fQ_sRzOVCFA62/viewI have downloaded it myself, its around 580MB.
Then, use something like Oculus Tray Icon (https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/5okoju/oculus_tray_tool/) to kill the oculus service.
Then replace the files in your C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support folder with those from the zipped file and voila!
After that, restart oculus app and it should work.
After the full setup process, you might need to uninstall and install it again to have the latest version! But then it should work properly!

Same problem, after selecting profile picture the gray screen appears and nothing happens after that..

1. Disconnect your computer from the internet

1. Backup any necessary content.

2.You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.

1.Reboot into Safe Mode.

2.Uninstall Oculus Home using the Control Panel.

3.Delete all Oculus folders from the following order:

1.Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:

4. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
5. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
6. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
7. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
8. C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache

1. Restart your computer in normal mode.

2. Reconnect your computer to the internet.

3. Install Oculus Home again using the setup tool from our website here.

Try this steps. A user back from 2019 had this issue and worked this way. Don't know if it will solve. As it seems, this is a common issue that no one have a right answer.

I have posted it already above and tried it also, didnt work for me. Several users in the same thread were saying that not everybody could solve the problem this way. It might have worked only for a few.

Same issue here. Just bought Oculus Quest 2 today to play PC games. Bad luck.

same issue for me. Oculus Rift S that I just bought is just unusable because of this problem. Oculus should fix this ASAP

hope so as well, i have been trying to fix this for 8 hours straight i reinstalled it, went to safe mode and deleted all oculus files. I updated all my drivers, I even created a new Facebook account. hope they fix this ASAP!

Not yet, oculus support said they were looking into it on reddit. That was about 7 hours ago. They also said send in a ticket with your file logs to help them solve the issue.

same here just tryed to set it up and screen is blank after profile pic selection

I think that's what most of us are trying to do. From what I've seen this problem is happening mostly to those who just bought their first VR headset. I just bought mine yesterday and was really excited to start playing.

if anyone gets a solution please post on here. very frustrated atm after spending so much on it and i cant use it. plus with regards to refunds i was told if has been opened they will not refund.
