Playstation Move PS3 Move Controller?

I know the Razer Hydra is pretty much the "standard" motion controller being coupled with the Rift at the moment, but has anyone thought about using the Playstation Move controller with it?

I haven't used a Hydra yet, but I have a PS3 and the Move and the accuracy and latency is pretty fantastic. Games like Sports Champion Table Tennis control almost exactly 1:1

Also a huge plus is that it's wireless, and since it's using a camera to track motion you can get further away without losing signal unlike the Hydra.

It seems people have successfully paired the controller with PC already too:

Does anyone here have both a Playstation Move and a Hydra? And what do you think of each as far as accuracy and latency? I also think the latency would be even further reduced using a Move on a PC considering they're more powerful than a PS3.

Apart from the engine plugins and so on, I think the biggest problem here is still the windows pairing process. PS Move API is open source so we may still modify it to work with other generic cameras but there is no clue on how to solve the pairing process with windows.

I've managed to get it paired with win7 but as Thomas (from ps move api) said is a trial and error / timing process. Definitely it is not something you can/should expect users to do.

Actually this is a really sad situation. We already have a hw input device which is cheap and accurate enough for most of our needs but no current "easy"/"plug&play" solution because of the windows pairing.

PS EYE works and controller was easily connected with motioninjoy, but i cant get calibration tool to run.
I had to manually add msvcr100d.dll and now it just gives this error message. :x

    Sorry.
I've never used move-on-pc (the one whos compatible with motioninjoy) I've only used psmove api by thomas perl which works perfect but requires regular pairing process (the nightmare one).

Apparently reboot or magic fixed it and now the rotation tracking works. I will test with the PS Eye tommorow. (I was using it as a webcam when i tested the move.)
But so far it seems quite simple, but the 2 dollar driver and motioninjoy are huge problems.

I bought the sharpshooter for 10 euros and for that price it is quite acceptable. It is plasticky and the trigger does not feel that great, so i would not pay 50 euros for it. But for the price these now go it is good. (I saw them for about the same price in ebay if you live in the USA.)
It has a reload button where the clip would insert, and a "shotgun" pump. The stock is fully plastic but again for the price it is fine.

Other nice feature is that it remaps the X, O Triangle and Square buttons alongside the gun chasis. Furthermore it has an extra button to select the "Fire Rate" single bullet, semi or auto.

It would be so great if Sony were to do with the Move controller what Microsoft did with the Kinect. That is to say, if they were to release a 'Move for Windows' version. Obviously not going to happen for a bunch of reasons, but would still be so great. Under $100 for two robust optical 3D controllers with buttons would be a huge boon for the VR industry.
I'd be very pleased if Oculus were to open up the IR camera used to track the DK2 to track more points somehow, so that someone could release a similar controller. Hell, I could build two 3D bluetooth IR controllers for like $40 right now if I knew that someone had the camera and software for tracking the IR points.

Well you can use them on the PC right now:
    http://thp.io/2010/psmove/
    https://code.google.com/p/moveonpc/
    https://code.google.com/p/moveframework/

I don't know how that com[pares to the console, but from the demo it seems viable. Myself I would make sure that the API could handle the LED being IR, so I don't have to have glowing balls on the things, AND as you see the the Rift DK2, you can have Black Plastic that an IR Camera can see through. So you should be able to make the controller in what ever shape you want and have good IR tracking without the need for big ugly sphere hanging here and there.

I have personally wasted to many hours trying to get the move paired with my PC :(
I have use multiple bluetooth dongles and can get the move detected, Once detected and clicking pair you can see its added in control panel BUT it turns of in less than a minute and your back to square one. One of the biggest problems is the driver Imo I dont want to install motionjoy or any other 3rd party stuff as they can create issues with overwriting BT drivers .

All I'm going to say is that when Sony come calling on the oculus dev community to port content to the Morpheus I'm personally going to remember this lack of support from them, and flat out refuse to port anything I may come out with Unless this situation changes. FAST

Yeah I mean you can use them with Windows, but at the same time it's not like anyone can just grab a Move, pair it to their PC in 2 minutes and they're good to go, like they might be able to with a bluetooth mouse. That kind of experience requires support from Sony.

And the reason there's no way they'll ever do this is because while Sony is definitely a big VR supporter, they're not about to make a business move that improves the VR experience for PC users. The Move controllers are going to be great for VR, and Sony is well aware of this. It's going to be a big part of the draw for VR enthusiasts to spend $1000 on a PS4 and Morpheus, rather than a new PC and a Rift. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony wind up building upon the Move to create a new 3D input device that's even better suited for VR.
But the chances of them shooting themselves in the foot and improving VR in the PC space by giving PC users access to their awesome motion controller? Zero.

Not that I'd complain if they surprised me. :D
