Playstation Move PS3 Move Controller?

I know the Razer Hydra is pretty much the "standard" motion controller being coupled with the Rift at the moment, but has anyone thought about using the Playstation Move controller with it?

I haven't used a Hydra yet, but I have a PS3 and the Move and the accuracy and latency is pretty fantastic. Games like Sports Champion Table Tennis control almost exactly 1:1

Also a huge plus is that it's wireless, and since it's using a camera to track motion you can get further away without losing signal unlike the Hydra.

It seems people have successfully paired the controller with PC already too:

Does anyone here have both a Playstation Move and a Hydra? And what do you think of each as far as accuracy and latency? I also think the latency would be even further reduced using a Move on a PC considering they're more powerful than a PS3.

it's not like anyone can just grab a Move, pair it to their PC in 2 minutes and they're good to go, like they might be able to with a bluetooth mouse. That kind of experience requires support from Sony.

The problem is not Sony here but the awful Bluetooth stack produced by Microsoft. I've no problem pairing and using the PS Move on Linux and it's apparently the same for OS X.

+1 and it even gets worse when moving from win 7 to 8/8.1. Pairing in win 7 is trial and error but is somewhat "easy" . It is almost imposible to do so in win 8/8.1

You know, it's only now that you say that that I remember what it was like trying to pair my WiiMote to my old Windows laptop. That was quite a while ago now, however, I've been on Mac so long I forgot about my dire hatred for the Windows bluetooth stack. :I

Well, I ended up getting a Hydra personally, as there is no 64 bit driver with SDK support for the eye camera (i.e., for PS Move API).

Code Laboratories, makers of the driver used by PS Move API, also made their driver cost $2, used to be free. Now, that's not a huge deal for development at all, and I don't begrudge them that, but it makes it kinda unusable for an indie game, or a plugin that you'd want to support.

In any case, the 32bit UE4 plugin I made is nearly finalized, if you're willing to only use it in 32bit builds (i.e., can't run in editor, but you can make it launch 32bit build standalones) it will still work.

It still needs some development, but it's quite simple overall, so it shouldn't be terribly hard. I don't have time to support it with my other projects and work that needs to be done, and what with it not working in the editor right and such right now.

If CL releases as 64bit driver I will probably come back to it, and certainly before CV1 comes out I will make some sort of support because of how prevalent the Move controllers are.

That's a link to the UE4 plugin repo. The binaries might not work (probably built for 64bit - which doesn't work because of CL driver).

I've modified the UniMove plugin for Unity to support rotational and positional tracking. It does only work in 32 bits though like the UE4 plugin because of the unavailability of a supported 64 bits driver for the PS Eye. It does work in the editor though.

The positional tracking seems to work well but the rotational tracking is incorrect, no idea why yet. Here are the modified files anyway if someone wants to try :

You may have to invert (*-1) one or more of the axes of rotation.

    Hi there,

I am in the same boat. Bought a Sony Move controller + eye camera today, just to find out that it won't work with my setup (Win 8.1/64 bit). I am keen on getting this to work as well and will monitor this thread.

Thanks for all the info you provided here. I got the pairing working, but it took hours.

Actually the 32 bits executable produced by Unreal Engine 4 or Unity should work on any 64 bits system. It's only a bit annoying to not be able to take advantage of a 64 bits build.

Ok I got the orientation correctly, here is the result :
