Windows 10 Compatibility w/ Oculus Rift DK2 - PLEASE READ

Our software team is working as quickly as possible to complete Windows 10 compatibility with our SDK and the Oculus Runtime. As Windows 10 is not officially supported at this time, we strongly suggest that Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 owners do not upgrade from previous versions of Windows until we have the officially updated SDK and Oculus Runtime available.

Your machine looks compatible, I would guess it's a cabling issue with the headset (either USB or HDMI). An easy thing to try is plugging the HDMI cable into another port (you can use the DVI adapter for this purpose). You may also want to try getting new cables.

Good Morning , i was wondering if someone could take a look at my log data , my rift used to work really well until now.

The demo works great in the oculus config utility , as i havent used the rift in a wee while i'm not sure if i missed something ,i cant get the rift to show up as a 2nd monitor now in nvidia control panel like i used to. When i uninstall the runtime 8.0.0 the desktop shows up in the rift and the 2nd monitor option appears in ncp instantly , im up to date in all my drivers i believe.Has things changed a lot to get this to work in windows 10 , i had no issues in win 7.

Ok just watched a movie on cinevo and that was fine. Project cars seems to work now as well finally.

Things are all working now as they should :)

So I decided to update to windows 10 because of DirectX 12. I install Oculus runtime 0.8.0 and it doesn't work. At times it just sees the Oculus as a second monitor but the tracking cam doesn't work. I install the runtime 0.7.0 and it does the same.

    I have the GTX 970
    16gigs ram
    i7 4790 3.6ghz
    I pass the requirements test.

What are you guys doing to fix the problem? The post of fixing the problem was posted on July 2015. Nine month later what have you guys came up with? What can you suggest, install the runtime 0.6.0?

I understand you guys trying to make the system work at best with the high end graphics card so there will be no problem running the oculus but it seems that Runtime 0.6.0 was better then the rest of the runtime you guys made. It is like fixing something that is not broken and breaking it.

Now Runtime 0.8.0 did work with windows 8 so yes you guys did something good there but I think you guys didn't anticipated that Windows 10 was coming out. How are you guys going to prepare for DirectX 12? Will you guys take advantage of the features it has? You guys have a deadline for the retail version but if the developers can get there Oculus to work with windows 10 people will not have games to play and even worse if it doesn't work with developer kit then it will not work with the retail version.

Lets get cracking guys I can't make games if I don't have the equipment working.

First uninstall every Oculus from your system. There are problems if you to a Win 10 upgrade with the Oculus software installed. Restart after the uninstall. Then install 0.8 Runtime. 0.7 could still work, but there is no reason to use this over 0.8. Anything older WILL NOT WORK AT ALL and may cause your system to FAIL TO BOOT (this is due to the old Oculus Display Driver, which is not compatible with Windows 10). Then make sure you have the latest Nvidia driver from their website. It should work.

You are correct it does work. It was a pain but worth it. Thank you.

I now see why the direct to HMD is the way to go. Games do run better. I found that since it does display the game on my TV it lags on full screen. When I run it on window mode it doesn't affect the Oculus only the TV and in the Oculus there is no lagging at all even on ultra settings.

    Thank you once again

    Hi!
I cant get my Rift DK2 to work.
I have tried everything. All the runtimes, nvidia drivers (362.00), services, patches.
Everytime I connect the HDMI of the Rift, my monitor loses signal. Cant see anything on the rift or monitor.
Uninstaling the driver and letting windows detect it seems to work but just a little. It shows 2 monitors (one is the rift dk2) on screen resolution..... then everything goes off.
    My video card is new.
About 6 months ago was working fine with older runtimes.
    Please help!!!!

I have the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti VR EDITION GAMING ACX 2.0+, but can't get the HDMI port on the front of the machine to speak reliably to my Rift DK2.

The VR edition gives you a 5.25" front panel connector that gives an extra 2 feet of HMD cable which would be wonderful when I spin around on my chair. The workaround is to use the HDMI port on the back of the card :-(

The EVGA tech support people were very good, we've confirmed that all 3 of the DisplayPort, and both of the HDMI ports work correctly. I'm confident the issue is with the Oculus runtime, doesn't automatically choose the correct HDMI port, and there's no configurable option.

Anyone know of a workaround to get the Rift to use a different HDMI port?
