Hey Forum, I am an aspiring inventor of sorts and I would like to share an idea I have been tossing around in my head for quite some time.Goal: To power an entire house with one relatively small dual sided photovoltaic panel and a 24 volt battery!Design; The PV panel would be mounted on a satellite dish. Thus one side would capture direct sunlight and the other side would capture sunlight that bounces off the dish. The dish structure would be mounted on a pole (obviously). At the bottom of this pole would be a cylinder shaped 24 Volt battery. The pole itself would be designed to double as a massive electromagnet. Inside the pole would be a electric motor near the top and a rotor that is vertically oriented and when operational rotates inside the pole. There would be two sources; the panel and the battery. One source would energize the electrical motor that turns the rotor inside the pole, while the other source would energize the magnetic field. Thus when operational producing a substan

Oculus LinkYou can now set your refresh rate to 80hz and 90hz when using Link with a USB-2 cable. Keep in mind, that even with some of the newest and most powerful GPUs, maxing out values for the render resolution slider with a 90 Hz refresh rate may result in dropped or missing frames.Fixed an issue causing Link to show a black screen after exit. Reduced incidence of “Oculus Link is not working” errors that were happening on shut down. (Quick note version numbering: v25 will be the next live release for everyone, as v24 will stay as an internal stability build only)

These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of February 1st, 2021. Messenger We’re starting to roll out Messenger on Oculus to people who have logged into Quest and Quest 2 using their Facebook account. Why do companies send emails stating that an item has shipped, when all that has happened is the printing of a label.Because of covid that label may sit in an out box for days or weeks, before being applied to a box and that box being handed over to a driver.

I live in the EU so I would like to know if the products are shipped from the USA to EU.Surely they are shipped inside the EU, right? I'd like to know if I have to pay customs (from USA to EU)

I didn't see any other threads covering this subject - so Happy New Year to you all!  :) Even in spite of Covid-19, 2020 was simply the best year for PCVR ever. In December 2019 0.87% of Steam users had a hmd connected, in December 2020 that number was close to 2%. Also - VR got the greatest computer game ever made by humans - namely:https://youtu.be/5c8_6Mli5WQ- and according to Gamespot, of course Alyx is game of the year (GOTY) 2020:https://youtu.be/6dgJCnkZoTgNow, 2020 had another surprise, as we got a second truly AAA VR game, namely:https://youtu.be/_QydaWaeO6QI'm aware many do not like Medal of Honor, but personally I have no doubt that Medal of Honor VR bows to no-one, not even Alyx. And I hope more users will appreciate Medal of Honor this year - and give the game the credit it deserves, surely devs are working hard to please more users. Another game arrived in 2020, which currently has 258 ratings in the Oculus Store - and an average rating of 98 (ninety-e

Finally the kids are sleeping, and I just finished placing the presents under the tree. It kinda felt like a weird game of Tetris, but eventually I found room for them all o:) BTW, for those having trouble finding the Christmas Spirit, I'd recommend 1+ hour of this:https://youtu.be/WBBxs2JqZhQAlso had a lot of fun watching this somewhat old 3D movie for the first time with the wife (it's definitely not for kids). Lots of 3D pop-out effects, possible one of the best ever 3D movies - but I'm not sure it's a great idea being completely sober when watching  https://youtu.be/ngIMH6J43UIMerry Christmas to you all!

I have a desk job (graphic design), yet my employer insists I drive to the office to work. The computer and software at my office are inferior to anything I have at home. We have zero walk in clients, all our clients are contracted through negotiations handled via phone or email. Each job time is logged electronically and scrutinized twice, so really no chance of my fudging hours, besides I get salary, so fudging hours does nothing for me personally. Even when I wish to speak with someone inter-office it's done through the phone. Driving to work is the reason I was seriously injured last year. Now my employee health insurance is helping pay for a long list of specialist checkups and physical therapy. So here I sit wondering why I'm here and not working from home. Can someone offer me a logical reason? Is it just because that's they way it's been done, and now we're just mimicking our own outdated conveyances to keep alive that old psychological comfort level?

I'm in Lima, OH. I wanna save up for the Quest and a budget gaming pc. Prefer $10/hr but at this point, I'll accept any job. Will work shady/barely legal jobs.Edit: Just got hired at Captain D as a cook! I did the math and if I save 25% of my paycheck, I'll be able to buy a quest in 5 months!! Still open to shady/barely legal jobs as a side income.

I am wondering if there are any other musicians on these forums - if so what do you play? Do you write / record music? What got you into playing music? What is your gear?I play bass guitar, guitar, synth and function as the audio engineer for my band. It was Nirvana and Much Music (Canadian MTV) that got me into music - though I moved on from that influence early on after starting to learn how to play. I started on bass guitar at 13 and playing guitar at around 22 (I am 31 now) - when we play live I function as the bass player and in the studio I remain multi-instrumental focusing on support parts. My main gear is:'97 Fender Precision Lyte Deluxe Ampeg Micro-VR with DIAmpeg V6B Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 running through Logic X

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help thinking that the age of the average user in the Oculus SubReddit is being reduced at the moment - more kids/teenagers - and also more users who seem to exploit the Reddit anonymity. This post is currently one of the most upvoted - and that would make perfect sense if the average IQ in there was from let's say 50 to 70:Once I regarded Reddit as a great place for enthusiasts to exchange knowledge. That idea died a long time ago. Maybe it's still working in the Index SubReddit, where users seem older - it also costs a lot more to get the Index, thus most kids can't afford it. And the Index Reddit moderators are very strict - but few post in the Index Reddit forum, and users are very hostile against Oculus. For me still greatly enjoying my CV1 and liking to share my experiences, the Index SubReddit is kinda a toxic playground although I do spend time in there.  Primarily I was wondering if I'm alone in having such thoughts, especially about th

I remember buying a Riva TnT2 just to be able to run it. Got my first virtual job there too. *sigh* the memories

This is completely off-topic, and have no idea if anyone can figure this out. In real life, I have -zero- depth perception. Life for me is two dimensional, as if it's on a flat screen. Yet when I put on a VR headset, I can see everything in perfect 3D.I noticed this the first time I went to see a 3D movie a few years back. The way everything popped off the screen blew my mind, much the same way playing Fallout VR and Asgard's Wrath are doing now. I'm not really sure why this is the case. I know my eyes are badly imbalanced, with 20/40 sight in one eye and 20/100 in the other. My brain just seems to discard the input from my right eye so I don't normally see things in 3D. But somehow VR and 3D movies are able to 'trick' my brain into processing stereoscopic images properly.Anyone have any clue why this might be?

We already have a Music Megathread, but I wanted to create a thread specific to songs/albums we may listen to during this global pandemic quarantine situation. If you want general music recommendations, then check out the Music Thread:https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/45686/the-music-thread/p1For this discussion, I'm looking specifically for sounds people are enjoying while in a state of quarantine. In my case, I'm deviating from anything too serious and leaning more towards whacky humor.Hence:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhMuQ8JBBXo
