http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8trP3V-tqE BBC video on 3D and nausea and how holograms and holographic tv's will fix the nausea issues. (remember this was oliver stones prediction in his miniseries wild palms with Belushi) So there is reason for some to choose hologram over 3D perhaps?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUfVGtTZ-GI Now this guy makes interesting case of Hologram Minority report on Ipadhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJruyJ4keqM Here is a real solution to making the hologram display for Ipad guy dreams about above.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avnsvPsRLfU Here is company making HOLHO holographic units for ipadhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur0IvUxT4a8 They just take the same simple concepts and make it bigger, so get a cheapie projector, some plastic, and VOILA, Wild Palms lifesize holographic entertainment system we can all have in our house, for less than a few hundred dollars? For that matter, why not make the hologram display stereo3D images with shutter glasse
Hey guys I just thought I would throw this one out there, but is there anyone by chance who bought an Oculus and doesn't plan on using their Unity trial that it comes with? Mine has just run out and I've been working day and night working on my secret little project but unfortunately I had to move homes recently and don't have the $1500 I saved up anymore and it will probably take me at least another month to get it... Idk if this is like frowned upon for "begging" for these but if so I apologize. Thanks in advance!Cheers
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-02-20/copycat-mario-game-lures-users-as-nintendo-resists-smartphonesWell as Bill Gates once said to IBM, if you don't canabalize yourself, someone else will do it for you. Nintendo could have released this years ago and capitalized on their own IP, they fought the trend. I can't find any videos of this game on youtube, can anyone provide a let's play video? I saw the video on china's cctv broadcast. All you developers out there wanting to break into that 1 billion chinese market and not give your game away for free, hmmm....Perhaps mankind needs to let go of all these concepts of ownership and capitalist profit? maybe not.
Arcades have died out, most of us probably remember the day's in which we went to battle out Tekken or Street Fighter at the local arcade, or just race it up on some kind of more expensive arcade unit.Could you imagine the type of tech we have now, with perhaps a little ingenuity and backwards engineering of current technology; and how that would affect arcades if they did exist today?Perhaps Massive FOV arcade boxes..Maybe far better Hologram games..smell a vision...I think Arcades were cut short, yeah sure there are Boomers and Dave and Buster's, but they have very limited Titles which only make for 1 or 2 decent experiences, perhaps because of the demand of Arcade units. It's a little sad.Any Thoughts? Should have Arcades thrived to see these days, or was it better to whither away and die due to online competition?.
Hi, how can you get Avatar 3D for the VR cinema?
I recently learned of a interesting gaming experiment that's ongoing right now, and everyone can be a part of it. A guy setup a twitch stream playing one of the original GameBoy Pokemons. But the twist is it's controlled by all the twitch chatters.I'd had preferred a different game like Dragon Warrior myself as I'm not a fan of Pokemon, but I understand the choice in the type of game. Regardless, it's still an interesting idea. Will it ever be beaten? Are you a for progress or sabotage? How many people would be needed for the noise to be filtered out and the hive mind approaches something working like a single brain?http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon
I've been learning japanese for about a year now (how ever I'm still having trouble with stories, and movies) how ever I can understand normal conversations. I'm trying to get into japanese (I really am because I love their culture) I'm somewhat ok at memorizing letters (but I occasionally mess them up) "but that's usually any beginners case right?"What are some good tips where I can flawlessly memorize the Japanese alphabet? (personally I don't even remember learning english to be honest. But I can Say the english alphabet both forwards and backwards) I'm really wanting to make my goal this year, by learning all the japanese basics (as in learning the alphabet completely)Much obliged!

There's something rattling around in one of them and I'd like to take a look / fix it so that I can confidently use it again.I see the three rubber stoppers on the bottom, and I managed to get one out using a knife and then I realized I definitely shouldn't do that with a knife.I then tried various tools and can't either of the other two out. Is there a trick to this?
She has never shown interest in trying until the next door neighbors kids came over to try. She saw them having a tonne of fun and then proceeded to try Dumpy Goes Elephants, Titans of Space and Parrot Coaster. At first I wasn't sure she was getting the full effect until she started reaching her hands out trying to touch objects and saying "I'M FLYING!" Now all she wants to do is play.http://youtu.be/hF8aL7hgiDIhttp://youtu.be/NH60EgYpfj8
We recently bought a Rift. For training and research purposes (motion sickness) what demos deliver the best motion sickness effect? Is there a demo with a* merry go round?* a sea/ship demo (standing on a boat?)?* roller coasters? Thanks in advance.
This isn't one of them...
I was really excited for this until I saw the prices. Ouch. A bit too much for me as I would only be using it for fun.I know they want to use it to sell STEM systems aswell but I was only interested in the Rift compatibility tbh.Oh well!
This thread is for anyone thinking about or currently implementing olfactory solutions into their immersion experience (This isn't the first thread to mention smell, but if there is another that is dedicated to the topic I would like to be redirected). You can even talk about things like hanging a pouch of cut grass from your neck for "outdoor" games, or improvised rigs to navigate an array of scented candles/compartments. Could this lead to more demand for the perpetually unappreciated scent peripheral products market?Do you recommend any digital scent technology products, and can they be voice controlled?
someone on amazon is still selling the dev kits for 600 bucks. I guess this is an artifact of early scarcity and delivery delays. I feel sorry for who ever gets ripped off by this
If they made this for the Xbox One and the Rift I would consider dumping PS consoles. 8-) The hand tracking here really looks amazing:http://research.microsoft.com/apps/video/dl.aspx?id=173838
I'm not talking about something recent. I am actually talking about the original tech demo that was on display at Epcot in Disney World many years ago. I remember when I was a kid I had a chance to try it and that demo really blew my mind at the time. "This is the future, its almost here!" Or at least that what I was thinking when I tried it on. However it was not anywhere near the oculus rift as far as being in any capacity that the regular consumer could buy it. The head mounted display was so heavy it had to be suspended from the ceiling, and you sat on what looked like a motorcyle and used a handle bar of sorts to propel Alladin's carpet around the city looking for scarabs to pickup. I remember it all very vividly today it was very well done and the graphics were surprisingly amazing for its time. 1996-ish or earlier?Apparently over 45,000 people play tested this so I can't be the only one. I was hoping though maybe someone else had some more information on the demise of this reall
I just saw this and it got me thinking that the PC could be in trouble if this happens natively and does not require an Eagle Eye or Frag FX to achieve mouse and keyboard support on the PS4. When you think about it the PS4 is a computer and making it work would be the easiest thing ever. With the PS4 being powerful as a mid priced gaming computer, along with this development, we may see a mass exodus to consoles! :o  :o  :o  http://www.vg247.com/2013/07/08/battlefield-4-could-get-ps4-mouse-keyboard-support-says-dice/
ironically the poster is all about covering the eyes, not opening them...
Has anyone else been following Kingdom Come: Deliverance game? It looks like it's going to be really good. It's going to be a realistic RPG set in medieval Europe. So no dragons or zombies. They just put it on kickstarter today and it's already 1/3 of it's way to being backed. It's being made with Cryengine which supports Occulus Rift by default, so I'm really looking forward to it. I won't link it cos I don't know if thats allowed, have a look though.
Hi,This is a minor bugbear I have but if I find something on Google or find a link to an item in this forum on a another website.. I always get taken to the front page and not the link I wanted (this is after logging in) - usually a site will remember where I wanted to go and take me there./rant over :)
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/31/opinion/brooks-the-romantic-advantage.html?_r=1&In the race to be the world’s dominant economy, Americans have at least one clear advantage over the Chinese. We’re much better at branding. American companies have these eccentric failed novelists and personally difficult visionary founders who are fantastic at creating brands that consumers around the world flock to and will pay extra for. Chinese companies are terrible at this. Every few years, Chinese officials say they’re going to start an initiative to create compelling brands and the results are always disappointing.USA and China recently entered a solar manufacturing war, USA industry fell first, but China is now beginning to experience a collapse in thier sector. This would be a good industry for our government to get behind and promote "american exceptionalism" to sell to the voting public. I have friends in DC and one at the pentagon that could get behind this govern support of the indus
This is a game currently on KickStarter. First and foremost, it's a niche targeted MMORPG. Meaning it's not trying to appeal to everyone like a game like WoW. I can attest to the woes of such an approach myself, as WoW failed to appeal to me with its lack of a focus on an audience. This MMORPG is either for you, or it isn't. Simple as that.So what is this game? If you know what EverQuest 1 was, you could say it's a spiritual successor to that. It's made by the same project leader as the original EverQuest and its first 2 expansions. Additionally it's packed with many veterans on staff from that and other MMORPGs.Pantheon will provide challenge where other games would provide "EasyMode".It will be group based and community focused, where other games would be solo heavy with linear "questing on rails" through quest hubs. While PvP is a stretch goal – likely a set of servers – this will be a PvE focused game (for once!!!!). This game is primarily about working together with other people, n
