Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v76 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v76:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v76" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v76 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Does the v76 PTC fix the battery draining fast when plugged in and not charging while not in use issue? The v74 is a joke and I need to get rid of it as fast as I can.

BadAnimal78 the charging issue is fixed for me, I  have not noticed any other battery draining issues. I am on v76.1020 there was another update overnight but I don't see any difference from yesterday.

Does v76 yet fix the incompatibility with USB3/USB4 charging cables on the Quest3?

Also wondering if there's going to be a v76 SDK (for UE) to go with this.

My quest just updated to v76.1021 and now while I'm using a link cable to connect to my PC, the link crashes on the headset, but the PC end is still working fine?

Is there any way to roll back this update? I'm a dev and use the cable to test game play while running in unreal engine. I can't work if it's going to crash every couple of mins?

If you want to rollback to V74 - that isn't possible. V76 updates your headset to Android 14, which can't be undone.

If you were on an earlier version of V76, and it was working before this latest update, you should be able to download the earlier version of V76 firmware (let me know if you need help finding it) and that may solve your issue.

It is just very strange to me as an end user that going from PTC v76 to public v76 introduced hardware issues that causes disconnections using the exact same cable and USB port.

Xypheron - is it possible that the Link software on the PC needs to be updated after the V76 update on the headset?

I use Meta Quest Developer Hub (for installing APKs to my Quest) - it shows me when the Link software on my PC needs to be updated, but there may be an easier way.

I usually get a notification in the link software that indicates an update is required.  But this happens whether or not link is even running.  I can just hear the Windows USB sound go on and off.

v74 introduced an issue that causes problems charging when the Quest 3 was connected but powered off.  It seems this issue has been carried over to a greater degree.

I am simply expressing my disappointment that I had a fully functional and great setup prior to V74, and it seems to have gotten worse and worse with each update, public or PTC.

I do like the system tray change that occurred, so this isn't just me being negative for negative sake. Some things were improved.

How is this company still this bad at firmware quality control?

My Quest Pro went from finally being solid to complete garbage after this patch. Tracking is horrible, controllers drift, inaccurate, can barely make a boundary without it glitching, my floor height keeps changing? How, how can this pass release? It is inexcusable. This isn't a minor issue, and should not have been overlooked or released.

Edit: And I hate your stupid survey pop-up that steals focus when I am trying to type. Soo beyond tired of the company after all these years of dealing with this garbage.

What do you expect from a company that's sole goal is maximum profit as minimum cost ? don't blame the developers as they have managers sitting on their backs demanding the next release, doesn't matter the developer says is isn't anywhere near ready..! Why do you think Palmer Luckey walked away !!. Mr Zuck is a thief that takes other peoples work and turns it into profit.. (He never even created facebook! the  The Winklevoss twins did and got paid $65 million in court), then he stole Instagram and WhatsApp etc etc you get the picture, the real problem the creative people that started these platforms have long gone due to the pressure to just get it out there! and is all now owned by a company that doesn't care about it's products as long as it brings in a PROFIT! (The days of the Steve Job's type are gone i'm afraid as Meta is but one of thousands of companies that now use method of operating)

Like most jobs the people only work there for a paycheck and have to develop an attitude of I don't care in the end result.! Shame the world has become like this 😞

So all you can do is sit back and wait until another small company comes along and offers a better product that is cared about until that company get bought out by the likes of Meta.!
