Disable Head Cursor Dot/Circle (BUG)

Hi,

I was wondering how to disable the head tracked dot(cursor) when I'm not using the Oculus controllers. I'm running an APK, and after a while of not using my controllers, they go away (sometimes in my face, but that's another issue), and it shows a white dot that can be used as a cursor (using volume buttons to click).

However, when using an android app with a gamepad, the dot is incredibly annoying, and makes the experience unplayable. So how do we disable the dot?

Thanks,
Peter

Thurrakand HenrySuen . I marked this problem as solved, as my initial issue was with having a Gamepad and the dot. However, I'll unmark the solution for you guys so hopefully it will gain more traction.

Also pinging some Meta mods. Any resolution coming for this? @MetaQuestSupport TheAntiSocializer AliceinVRworld

Any update on this? I got a Quest 3 for christmas and the first thing I tried was watching a youtube video. Sat down on the couch and put my hands behind my head to relax and this annyoing dot appears right in the middle of the video. I wish there was a simple way to disable this if hand tracking is enabled. I typically move my hands out of the view intentionally so they aren't jumping around on screen while I'm trying to watch something so this UX clashes really poorly.

This shouldn't be marked as solved!

I was wondering since I got my Quest 3 what that tracking white dot was which so far the only purpose it served is to be annoying. I couldn't even find instructions in the help section for what it does and how it can be used..

Please, give an option to disable it! 😭

We should create a new ticket/post and referring to this one. After years this is not fixed.

Hi,

Referring to the previous post, I also knew that this bug(yes, i call this a bug) is reported years ago. With the better passthrough feature on Quest 3, more and more people use Quest device for as a remote desktop/screen. I assume Meta do not address this issue seriously. Read the latest comments in that post. I hope you did not read it cause it was marked "resolved"? Here is a post to draw your attention again.

If you're using a Gamepad here is the fix:
Settings -> Devices -> Gamepad -> Use the gaze cursor while gamepad is paired -> OFF
😁

... however, this does not fix the problem if you're doing any other activity with the wands disabled.

META FIX THIS.

It IS already off. This is not a solution. Tracking dot appears when all controllers are idle. That does not go away with the setting disabled.

It's two years and the solution is still not perfect.

When people watching videos on browsers from non-YouTube platforms. We don't have gamepads paired.

Meta need to add quick shortcuts to give us more control over the way we interact with the Headset UI. Personally, i like having the Headset Pointer-Dot, when i don't want to use the controllers, or they (and the hand tracking) is not detected because its too dark. BUT, when i am watching movies or videos, and move my hands to grab something the headset keeps tracking my hand and a lot of times interpreting my movements as "Clicks", grabbing and moving the screen around accidentally and even worst, clicking the timebar messing everything up! Its unbearably annoying. There should be a way or command to swap between the interaction modes like "Off - Headset Dot - Hand tracking - Controllers - Auto" or something like that. I know designers at meta are trying to make it as "automatic" as possible for overall use, but most of use like to customize the experiences at least a bit. That would increase accessibility also !
So i could pick the controler to move them to another room but not having the auto detection in the way.

I don't know if an update was made but now instead of there being a dot it is just an invisible dot that seems to be interacting with the video I am watching, randomly pausing it or making the seek bar show up randomly just because it's hovering over the video...  seriously I just want an option to not have any interaction happen even though im not using the controllers.  I know this seems like a small issue to the devs. but its not.  Its literally the reason why I will not buy a new headset from you because you can't even fix an issue that so many people are complaining about yet its so simple to fix.  You have input on the headset itself. why is it you can't make them bring up the dot if you press them when there is no controller active?  It seems very simple.

I don't use my quest3 for weeks, because of this problem...

I really need meta to fix this

Yep, very annoying e.g. when working with the computer through Meta Remote Display. The cursor should be off when controllers go to sleep and user should be able to turn it on easily if needed e.g. by a tap on the headset as someone already suggested. Shouldn't need a lot of dev time to get this fixed.

Small thing, big annoyance. Please fix.
