My setup keeps asking for a business account email and I'm not a business

Strange thing with my Oculus Quest 2 setup.  The setup goes directly to requesting business information and will shut down when I select decline.   Since I am not a business it doesn't make sense why this information is being requested.  Can someone explain please what I should do?

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING FOR VISABILITY

Hey guys! This thread has been going on for a while, and a lot of new faces seem to have joined in. Because of that, I want to reiterate the marked solution that the previous mod mentioned, as the workaround seems to have helped users dealing with this issue.

@TheAntiSocializer

Hey everyone! Thanks for reaching back out to us on this issue. We've gotten this flagged with our internal team for them to further review.

If you've purchased the device from an unauthorized 3rd party (neighbor/friend/second hand shop), I do recommend reaching back out to them for further assistance since the device could be tied to Meta Quest for Business.

If your headset has been in use for some time and you're just now running into this issue, please feel free to post your experience here in the thread.

In addition, there is a workaround the community is trying out:

  • Try another browser or make sure your signed  into Facebook account on that browser before you start

If this does not work please submit a ticket with support using this following link!

If you've tried the workaround mentioned above and are still having trouble, please send a private message to MetaStoreHelp or submit a ticket with the link provided. Hope this helps!

Hey everyone! If you're having issues with your Business accounts I recommend getting connected using this link here! However, if you have a device that has a business account and it should be a regular device please Factory Reset the headset. If this does not work please get in contact with the retailer you got your device from.

We are all mad here.

This also happens on quest 2 that have previously been working fine , , Seems a bit extreme sending it back , if you pair up using pc or laptop rather than phone it will work ,

If the device is within 30 days new we do recommend getting in contact with the retailer you bought it. Just because sometimes the factory reset does not always work. This is mostly with different retailers somehow they have business devices..... But thank you for letting the community know it works best with PC.

Same issue. We’ve had this almost a year now. Set up is difficult and made me create a new Facebook account. My personal messenger notifications were popping up in the corner while my son was playing his games. Really really not cool. We have constantly had issues and now this. We’ve factory reset it a couple times with no change.

The requirement for Facebook accounts was removed in 2022. The better option is to use a Meta account, they aren't tied to a social media account so things like messenger won't be connected.

This is bc you are selecting work.Meta.com/device instead of meta.com/device. I just went through this and nobody could tell me why. May sure you are clicking the meta.com/Device and not the link for work.

It has nothing to do with this. The people having the problem don’t get an option it goes straight to work email address . But it’s easy to fix . The problem only happens when using phone to pair if you use PC/laptop it’s fine

It’s obviously not hardware issue as mine asked for work email address but I managed to sort it . There are a lot of people that have had the issue after updates who have owned a quest for years . I’m sorry but I think it’s a massive cop out to tell people to return their headset . Typical response from meta quest  . Return headset or factory reset ?? . Sorry I’m not buying it

Hey Linson12. As I had mentioned in the comment I wrote, if they've had it for a while and are now running into this issue, this is what we're flagging with our team as it should not be something that's happening.

However if it is a brand new device, the best option is to exchange it with the retailer where it was purchased since it would be the quickest and easiest way to resolve this issue.
