My setup keeps asking for a business account email and I'm not a business

Strange thing with my Oculus Quest 2 setup. The setup goes directly to requesting business information and will shut down when I select decline. Since I am not a business it doesn't make sense why this information is being requested. Can someone explain please what I should do?

Hey guys! This thread has been going on for a while, and a lot of new faces seem to have joined in. Because of that, I want to reiterate the marked solution that the previous mod mentioned, as the workaround seems to have helped users dealing with this issue.

Hey everyone! Thanks for reaching back out to us on this issue. We've gotten this flagged with our internal team for them to further review.

If you've purchased the device from an unauthorized 3rd party (neighbor/friend/second hand shop), I do recommend reaching back out to them for further assistance since the device could be tied to Meta Quest for Business.

If your headset has been in use for some time and you're just now running into this issue, please feel free to post your experience here in the thread.

In addition, there is a workaround the community is trying out:

Try another browser or make sure your signed into Facebook account on that browser before you start

If this does not work please submit a ticket with support using this following link!

Hi Meta I have a meta 3 and I am trying to set up a user account for my spouse, but it keeps on asking for the business email address? We've tried several different ways, and we keep on getting the same result it's kinda like the definition of insanity. We are pretty upset about this. Over the last two days we have spent more time and battery trying to set up our unit an actual gameplay. This is not how the device was intended to be used. I'm sure

No I don't want to connect any fb accounts to my device at all so it won't help at all. This is a bug on metas end they update to fix one issue that causes or issues to arise and they won't find out until we start sending bug reports , with so many humans im sure the whole operating system is divided onto sections and they assign a team to each section, like messages , log in , casting , pictures and video sharing and so on , but we get a bug on one part say loading environment, so that particular team works on correcting the bug , and they only check that part of the whole os, once fixed they don't check the entire os , they roll out the patch but the patch now has effected other parts so we get another bug and so on , instead of testing the epdates and patches correctly they rush it out and wait for the bugs to appear , we are thr test dummies .

That’s fine if you don’t want to try it as a solution until they sort thiats fine . . They have had this issue for ages so don’t expect a fix anytime soon

Finally found fix for this work email address thing . Drove me bloody mad . When headsets asks you to type meta.com/device into a device don’t use your phone use pC or laptop . If you don’t have one try another browser on your phone . I still had bit of problem adding one of my additional accounts but found it worked better buy using the Facebook log in on my laptop rather than the email address option . You have to be logged into your Facebook account though before you start the process with the account your pairing to headset .

i just started to setup mine purchased directly from Amazon with my Prime account and have the same problem. So frustrating to get shot down at step one. Anyone know what to do?

Finally found fix for this work email address thing . Drove me bloody mad . When headsets asks you to type meta.com/device into a device don’t use your phone use pC or laptop . If you don’t have one try another browser on your phone . I logged on to a computer and when it asks for a work email address I type in the email associated with meta and it says there isn’t an account

I have been using 28 quest 2 headsets for 4 years and now all of a sudden, I had 6 headsets factory reset themselves and now they are locked on work.meta.com. Meta screwed the pooch here. I have tried all of these solutions including logging into facebook to access meta.com/device but NOT GOOD and NOT WORKING. I am screwed and my simulation lab is adversely affected.
