Quest 3 stuck in Battery Saver Mode

So I toggled the battery saver mode 3 days ago and ofc it lowered resolution. I wanted to test the feature. So I toggled it on, saw the change, and then toggled it off. When I turned it off, the resolution stayed the same, the fovetated size stayed the same. Everything was the same as if I was still on battery saver mode (with full charge on the headset).

I ignored this issue until today as I cannot deal with it anymore. I restarted the device, resolution is still low, text is pixelated, FOV is terrible, everything warped. The headset thinks I'm in battery saver mode still. Tried toggling it on and off and there is literally no change when turning it on, and of course no change when going back to off.

Please help.

I'm on v60

Just bought mine 3 days ago and have same issue. Is this something we can wait on a fix for or should we return for new one?

AliceinVRworld ShiroTenko MetaStoreHelp Hoping to get an answer to the same question as above.  Is this a software fix or a hardware fix?  I'm running out of my return window the longer this take to figure out.  Are you able to share if its fixable from the Dev team?  The support team was not helpful when I reached out.

Hey Tyberis.1 and Kevicii currently our engineers have let us know that we will need to get you to our support team! There are steps that they will provide and if those steps don't work you will need to submit a bug report and they will escalate this to our engineers internally! Go ahead and PM MetaStoreHelp as well!

This was just mentioned by our engineers 2 days ago.

Hi all,

meta support suggest I try a hard reboot followed by a factory reset. I went one step farther. Keep in mind I had to do this entire process twice but I can now easily read my phone again and my battery seems to be dying appropriately fast (that sucks but I prefer that problem) my bobo VR lost or maintained instead of charging after I did this.

1) restart the headset

2) hard reboot the headset (hold down power button and volumes up button while the headset is on for about 10 secs)

3) power the headset down IMMEDIATELY after the hard reboot

4) perform a factory reset from the headset. Hold the power button and volume down button until the boot menu appears.

I did this twice and the second time it seems to have taken. Keep in mind I am new to quest and quest 3 is my first headset. I tired battery saver on within the first week so I may not be the best judge of if this worked. But to me the pass through seems much clearer and the headset seems to be less laggy.  Also please note I did a lot of research about pass through quality. The brightness and color of your lights really matters. Having your phone brightness not to bright but not to dim and NOT in night mode also helps. This isn’t why mine looks better now, I had done all of that prior to these steps and after I did the above steps twice it looks way better. Hope this helps someone. From a tech standpoint it seems clear that something in the code isn’t getting erased properly and a certain set of circumstances have to occur to clear it. What a pain.

That didn't work for me  OptimusPDX, but I hope it works for some others.

One thing I noticed is when I do step 2 for the hard reboot, the Volume Up button and power doesn't go to reboot it.  It goes to some android boot loader.  I have to do volume down, then select boot device.

Weird. That isn’t what it did for me. Please note when doing a hard reboot I started with the headset on. Did you do the factory reset from the android boot loader screen?  That’s how I chose to do my factory resets in my step 4.

So an update on my headset. I have done every kind of reset that has been suggested on here and youtube many, many times now. I want to be clear about something. When in a properly lit room, I should be able to do everything the same as if I didn't have the headset on correct? Use my computer or phone like I'm not wearing it? It shouldn't be grainy and blurry like a 90's prototype digital camera? I just want to adjust my expectations here if I'm wrong because I can't do any of those things like the ads and commercials with the headset on. I can see around me and I can see the faces of pictures on the wall clearly if I walk up with in 5 ft. I know what objects are when I walk around but to read anything or see details, that's a big no. It's sharper while in virtual worlds or games but seems a bit more pixelated than I thought it would be. Games are not sharp what so ever that are loaded on the headset. My son bought one a few days after me. Same place I got mine and his seems the same so either that's how they are suppose to look or Walmart got a bad batch.

Edit: I also tried upping the settings for the headset like refresh and resolution, but it didn't change the look at all. I toggle the battery save mode on and off and there is zero difference between the two. There is a slight flicker when changing modes but no change in the quality. I ran so many tests with games and apps in the last couple of days and I really think it's just suppose to look this grainy. I hope I'm wrong.

I can read text on phone and computer but it's far from being clear, its grainy and pixelated. But its usable, you can navigate around house while using headset.

Ya I'm starting to think this is just how it's suppose to look. It's not practical to use while at a computer because you have to lift the headset up and down to read your screen or keyboard. Also has anyone tried out that free Asgard game? Does it look sharp and clear for you? The resolution of the game in my headset feels about 1024x768 quality.

Super clear for me. Everything is very clear except the pass through but honestly once I jumped through my hoops is now useable enough that I don’t have to take my headset off to do anything. (Phone, grab a bite from the fridge, write something down etc). Like I said not like looking through glass but not bad at all.

I’m curious what your battery life is like?  Mine without  battery pack is about 1 hour 15 min give or take 5 min.

Ya I do use it on battery alone but not for heavy gaming. If anything, being hooked up all the time should keep it off any battery saving mode. I have reset it with and without cable hooked up. I have done a reset through the app, Hard reset, soft reset, the android boot menu. Every way you can reset. I watched many videos last night and they all say and show the same thing. It's not as pretty as the PR videos put out. Maybe it will get better at some point. I saw there was an update V62 coming in a few days. We'll see how that does. As it goes now passthrough is just not practical to use besides a few of the fun games. I do a lot of mechanical work on my cars and motorcycle and I couldn't imagine using the AR to have how-to videos or manuals up while you work on detailed parts like some videos show people doing. It just wouldn't be clear enough see anything. I couldn't imagine reading 10mm on a socket.....

Got it. Yea I agree. It’s misleading when they post the video that is cast versus what is actually in the headset. It’s a huge step up from other pass through but not perfect. I do for sure think there is a battery saver issue as at one point mine had gotten so bad I could only read it with one eye closed. Now I can at least read it like normal. It’s just not crystal clear.

I'm realistic. I don't expect 4k passthrough. I just want to read my giant monitor in front of me comfortably. Or a headset strap motor that can lift it up and down over my face on command....LOL.
