So I figured out how to fix without loading other software. If you have tried to reboot your meta quest 2 and also your router here is how I fixed ours. I was using the meta quest 2 and was connected to my wifi with limited connection and then opened the browser. When the browser opens it show my time and date are not correct and allowed me to hit settings to correct it. As soon as I did all functions returned as normal, hope this helps

I'm going to try this. It's been driving me nuts since yesterday and I just noticed it says it's 2036. I have no way to update though so I'll try the stuff mentioned here. This seems like a really messed up update I mean is there any sort of quality check before they push the stuff out

Exact same problem. I try connect with Wifi, and suddenly i have limited internet / connection. It wont load pages, VRChat dead, people dead, store dead.

Wow, the last patch might broke Q2 wifi part. That is very stupid. Without working wifi internet, people cannot go online.

Local WiFi is still fine, can connect with Virtual Desktop (PC VR). Something in OS the wifi internet part is bugged. Very stupid bug.

Seems it IS date error. Mine is in future set at 2036.

Someone said Factory reset will fix it.

Wow, big date error, and... today is magic date 2-2-2022.

This really solves the problem (worked for me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh8MvuoAdfo

In a nutshell: you connect your headset to a computer and (install and) open Sidequest, then find the app 'Android Settings' and launch it, and in the app there is a way to change different settings on your headset, including date and time.

Fact of the matter is they need to release an app on their website that interfaces directly with the headset to fix the issue. People shouldn't have to do all this and most people won't understand how to.  I guess factory resetting works according to some people but it's just not something I wanted to do. And it's a ridiculous way to solve a problem they created.

Press the power button to restart. Choose the same wifi again. It's work for me.

I did restart, but problem the wrong date will not set back (because there is no wifi to internet) so there will no date correction happen. It stays in wrong date. Wifi still say "limited connection".

The only 2 ways: full factory reset or try connect with phone oculus app, then the app can adjust the clock in quest. The factory reset probably set date in old date (the first OS date probably) and this will adjusted after relink to phone app to correct date.

Still... factory reset is not great for some people due huge amount of data installed. I should add manual clock set function to Quest OS in next version. This is very easy function, and very fast fix for most people. Really, this is such easy fix. If we can adjust clock in Windows or Linux, why not in Quest? What is reason for it?

Agree with ztech3D:

Issue: Was getting "Limited Connection" when connecting to Wi-Fi networks. I tried my Home Wi-Fi and a mobile hotspot. Both showed "Limited Connection", even though the connection quality on both were "Excellent".

Solution Overview: You need to get into the root settings of your Oculus Quest 2 and update your Date and Time Settings. Regular settings won't allow you to update your Date/Time. One solution is to use SideQuest to do so.

Solution:

1. Follow the SideQuest website to get setup with SideQuest for your Oculus. I followed the Windows installer.

2. After you're connected to SideQuest, as shown in this YouTube video at the top right, select "Run ADB Commands", then "Custom Command"

   a. Execute the following command to open the root settings (the android setting that your Oculus runs off of):

adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d com.oculus.tv -e uri com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings com.oculus.vrshell/.MainActivity

3. Go to "System" > "Date & time" and set your Date/Time to the current. My date for some reason was set to 2037

You should now be able to connect to your Wi-Fi

Check your time on the oculus. If the time is not the same as the time zone you are in, it’s gonna be a problem. Having the wrong time can do this to your oculus. It happened to mine as well. I tried factory resetting but it doesn’t fix a thing. The only thing you can do is complain to facebook about being idiots for not making a time zone change option.

Recently had the "limited connection" issue even though I connected to 3 different wifi including a hotspot from my phone. It certainly wasn't the wifi, turned out to be the time setting. The headset had drifted off by just a few minutes. I checked through settings in the headset and saw that there is now a "Set Time Automatically" option that was disabled. I enabled that and the headset adjusted time, then suddenly the limited connection exclamation point went away and my apps started updating again.

Glad it's fixed, but seriously why is the headset hobbled by a few minutes drift on time? Whoever wrote the connectivity check function should go back to programming school.

Hey there, Jeep1997! It's great to see that you were able to find a workaround for connecting your Quest 2 controllers. Hopefully this helps other users who are having a similar issue!

Found out my issue: So for a quick explanation, it seems the OS time is checked against the internet, and if they don't magically align well enough, it claims that the network it's connected to is potentially spoofed. To solve, simply check time zones and set your time back to it's proper time. Spent literally 12 hours trying to figure this out.

Just set your time setting to automatic. That’s it. Fixed mine.
