Has anyone got any suggestions on how to implement an object tracker that moves around the edges of the screen UI, like in Kaiju City Showdown or Rocket League?
Congratulations to all the mobile game prize winners. Although I was not one of the winners (😔), as an experienced TypeScript developer, I really liked learning the Horizon Worlds API and development tools. If you need help with future projects, please keep me in mind. And visit my contest entry, Galactic Treasure Hunt, to add to my milestones!https://horizon.meta.com/world/652276037540703/?locale=en_US
Hi everyone,I’m running into an issue that I thought would be fairly straightforward.I’m trying to use a laser-pointer–style object to grab and interact with objects for a simple puzzle game. The problem is that my raycast isn’t logging any hits on the tagged objects. To troubleshoot, I set up a minimal test:Created a cube as my grabble objectAttached a raycast to itWhen grabbed, the raycast should change the color of a simple sphereBut I’m still not seeing any hits registered. Here’s the simplified script I’m testing with:import { Raycast, Entity, Color, Component } from 'horizon'; export class LaserColorChanger extends Component<typeof LaserColorChanger> { static override typeName = "LaserColorChanger"; private raycast: Raycast | null = null; start() { this.raycast = this.entity.getComponent(Raycast); } update() { if (!this.raycast) return; const hit = this.raycast.getHit(); if (hit && hit.entity && hit.entity.name === "TargetSphere"
I am trying to finish a contest entry for the Open Source competition, but I shutdown my server and my account broke. I can no longer access any Worlds Editor. It just does what's in the attached image. When I switched my secondary computer over to this account, it instantly breaks too, but it was working on a different account. There was a bit where I could click the "Retry" button a few hundred times and it worked, but now that isn't working either.I've contacted support and posted feedback, but I really need this fixed ASAP. (I've already tried all troubleshooting options)
Summary:When attempting to create a remix of a personal world template via the web browser while the Horizon Worlds editor is open, an error message is displayed indicating the editor is already open. However, it appears the remix process is still initiated in the background. After closing the editor and successfully creating another remix of the same template, the user is presented with two remixed versions of the world, leading to confusion and unexpected world duplication.Steps to Reproduce (STR):Open a personal world template in the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor. While the editor remains open, navigate to your world's page in a web browser.Click the option to "Create a remix" of the world that is currently open in the editor.Observe: An error message is displayed, stating that a remix cannot be created because the world is already open.Close the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor completely. In the web browser, click the "Create a remix" option again for the same world template.
Hi everyone,I'm setting up a world to be remixed (based on the Modular Tycoon Engine) and have a question about the correct workflow for UI assets. In this engine, the UI panels (like the HUD, Shop, etc.) are not placed in the world Hierarchy. Instead, they are linked as Asset properties on a central GameManager script, which then spawns a unique copy for each player when they join.My question is: When someone remixes my world, how do they edit these UI assets? Will they receive their own editable copies of my UI asset templates in their Asset Library? I'm concerned that because the UIs aren't static objects in the Hierarchy, a remixer won't be able to find and modify them. Can anyone confirm that linking the asset templates to a script property is the correct way to ensure they are properly cloned and editable for remixers? Thanks for the help!
The following snippet:```this.world.team.createTeamGroup(teamGroupName); this.world.team.createTeam("1", teamGroupName); this.world.team.createTeam("2", teamGroupName); const teamNames = this.world.team.getTeamNames(teamGroupName); console.log("Teams created", teamNames);```Always logs `undefined` within a server script. I have tried with both an explicit group and no group, but can't seem to be able to create teams. Also, the signature of the `getTeamNames` function says it returns an array of strings, so this shouldn't be logging `undefined` even if no teams were successfully created. Is there something special I need to do with my world to enable the teams API? It's a brand new world. Not sure if related, but I did notice that the documentation for some of these functions seems to have its wires crossed in places. "create" functions say they delete and vice versa:https://developers.meta.com/horizon-worlds/learn/documentation/t
Hi everyone, I’d like to get some advice on how to manage version numbers. My game is currently at version 1.1.2. After this, I’m planning to add a completely different new mode (which connects to the main story). How should I arrange the versioning for this mode? If the mode includes a full set of 9 stages but I plan to release them one by one, how should the version numbers be handled then? Right now, I’m leaning toward making the full version 2.0, but I don’t have much experience in this area, so I’m not sure if that’s appropriate.
It's still worth doing, but wanted to let people know so that they aren't disappointed like I was to find out that they just earned a voucher they can't use. It seems that only the US can get a voucher, I originally assumed it was meta store credit which I would have been happy with.
I was asked to verify documents for my payout account, but when I click the "Verify Documents" button, it redirects me back to the Meta Horizon homepage. I couldn’t upload my documents, and I’ve also tried doing this on my mobile device. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?URL Link: https://horizon.meta.com/stepup/doc_upload/?use_case=creator_payout_onboarding_hold&ent_id=replaceyourpayoutidhere
Is it possible to set grab lock for each hand independently ?I use two grips on an entity and I need for one hand to be locked, but the other shouldn't be locked.
I created a setup for a weapon for my world. Figured I better make asset template to drop several on the level. When I did that and dropped asset to the level, the asset appeared to be different than the original setup:In the viewport, left is the asset and right is the OG entity setup. In-game they appear and interact identically. The hierarchy in the outliner looks identical. It's just very weird and unwieldy in the Desktop Editor.Could be Editor bug?
Is it possible to attach multiple scripts to an entity ?
Hi Everyone, would like to know there is a way to have a comment box pop up from an item when a user clicks or touches it? Or a sound clip plays if the item is touched or clicked? Thank you.
Hello, I would like to know if there is any way to fix the Broken Reference issue in scripts and UI. I’ve made a package for the competition and everything works fine in the world, but once I create the asset with everything, the UI script shows a Broken Reference in the asset, and the same thing happens if I install it in other worlds. I’ve tried making it public, but the issue still persists.
Hi everyone,I hope that both all of you and your immediate families are all doing great and have transitioned from the very scorching hot Summer season heat that has been circulating around the country last month into the very cooler, drier, and crisper air and along with both the back-to-school shopping, registering your children into school and meeting all the School faculty members that comes with the Fall season. This discussion topic was supposed to be posed August but since I didn't get the chance to I would like to start the discussion topic off by saying that I am someone that new to the Meta Community Forums, and I have been working on my first major educational related world so with that being said I have a quick question for any Mentor, Member, Partner, or Honored Guest that may or may not choose to read this (🤞I seriously hope that you do choose to read this Discussion topic)!, my question to any Horizon Worlds Mentor, Member, Partner, or Honored Guests such as Shards632, S
I'm not able to add any assets to any of my worlds (including new empty worlds), and all my worlds have all the assets displayed as warning signs! This is preventing me from doing any work right now
Hello,I am about to submit my remixable world for the creator challenge. Do I need to make each asset shareable individually or does automatically work and share everything [e.g. AI gen models or textures I uploaded]. I assume it will just make everything work to be used by anyone who uses the remix, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks
Does Meta have any plans to create an enemy AI tutorial using a simple setup (not using those stock Unity Assets) - a cube with an "arrow" (representing direction it's looking at) that idles, until player comes into view cone and then cube starts chasing player ?
I'd appreciate any help with this:I want an entity to follow the player smoothly without network lag, as smoothly as if it were attached to the player but without using the attachToPlayer method.Right now, I’m updating the follower’s position in World.onUpdate or World.onPrePhysicsUpdate using either a local or server script, but the follower consistently trails behind the player with an inconsistent lag. Setting the owner also didn't help.
Why can't I add more assets to my world? I drag and drop an asset into my world project and it disappears. Are you having problems?
Hi Everyone,New to World creation, and just about finished the first world, I'm naming The Zone. So I have published it as Visible, and open to all over 18. If you search for "The Zone" your able to find it and go in, but when I try and invite friends they keep telling me Invite doesnt work. So basically they got in only by means of searching it. So they also tried to invite friends, and same issue, people say invites do not work? Not sure what I am doing wrong, hoping someone here can help me?Thanks
Good Morning AllWould anyone be interested in helping me write a script for one of the worlds I’m looking to get released by Halloween? It would be in codeblocks because I do not know typescript and don’t have time to learn it by next month. To be honest - I don’t have anything monetary to offer. I build for passion and experience and seek no reward from it other than making sure my potential players enjoy themselves. Even though I do not have anything monetary to offer, I’d be happy to provide whatever help I can offer in return such as building, ideas, etc…
Hi everyone,I’m exploring the new NPC / AI Speech NPC features in Horizon Worlds. My idea is simple:Create a world with an AI-powered avatar/character.Enter through my Quest headset and be able to talk with it, getting real-time natural voice responses.I’d love to learn from anyone who has already experimented with this:What’s the workflow you used to set up AI NPCs?How did you connect speech recognition and TTS (external APIs vs built-in)?Any pitfalls I should know about (performance, scripting, UX)?In addition to general advice, I’m also looking for a developer who has experience building Horizon Worlds and experimenting with AI NPCs to help me create this. If you’ve done similar work, please reach out—I’d be happy to chat more about collaborating. Thanks in advance for any pointers!
