VR Forums

This is looking like one of the last posts I will be making here at OVRF for the coming future. As one of the supporting posters on the forum since the beginning I am sure my posts will not be missed by some, though I wanted to thank those that supported me with PM's or in comments to my infrequent ramblings. The recent abuse, deletion of topics and the sudden compete changing of format and structure of reporting has made me look at OVRF as a issue rather than a solution - and the traction we see, and open debate on Reddit makes it much easier for a "adult" conversation.I hope this is not the shape of thing to come for OVR - and I just wanted to say good bye - though i still will try to keep a eye open if debates move from the puerile on this forum.

So hello world of Oculus Rift how is everyone I've been looking up Oculus Rift and didn't realize you guys hada forum which is cool LOL I feel stupid I didn't find this sooner. So yeah pretty much Sword Art Online and dot hackgot me into this and I wanted to suggest something to developers. If any game you can make for the Oculus Rift I know youdo shit like Roms ECT but for legal purposes I was wondering is there any programmer who can take my suggestion for making the Oculus Rift available for old games like .hack//fragment? I was also suggesting games like Metroid Prime would work better for a Virtual Envrinment with a character zoom in option if you wanted to. I was also hoping somebody out there if they can take a challenge to make a space simulator for the Oculus Rift which would also be badass. So yeah sorryfor the language but the Oculus is sick I was wondering does anyone know when the Oculus is actually gonna be released?Sorry for the post turning out WEIRD -_- threads hate me

Hello Developers! I am currently working towards a university grant to do research into the correlation between Virtual Reality, video gaming and dreams. I am working with a reputable doctor of dream research at my university and we need participants who are interested in participating in this exciting research. Throughout these studies we generally defined the hard core gamer as someone who:1. Plays video games on average several times a week,2. Typical playing session more than 2 hours3. Played 50 or more video games over their lifetime, and4. Been playing video games since grade three or earlier. These games are required to be played on the Rift to establish consensus. My professor just bought a DK2 kit but we would like to start to get information on interested participants who could work with us from around the world. You will also be required to keep a dream log for a period of time. Not very time consuming, and you get to be more engaged in your video gaming! If this fits your de

Hmmm... I wonder....

Hi All,I recently upgraded to a Asus Strix GTX 970. I previously had a 760 GT, which was doing well, but I wanted silky smooth 75fps. Anyways, my performance is all over the shop, and am trying to work out what the problem/problems are.TimeRifters with DX11 slows down all over the shop, dropping from 75 fps to a a low of mid 30's, and this is on the first level. It's improved when using DX9 (most of the time at 75-100fps).Previously, the old demo on DK1 with my old gfx card would run it at hundreds of frames a second...i think.Lunar Flight is totally unplayable, runs at 10-15fps. Again, in DK1 days, this was smooth.Does anyone else have this card? and if so, would the version of the Oculus Runtime version make a difference? Also, what drivers are people using? I will provide exact specifics of benchmarks etc when I get home.I am simply curious why my upgrade seems far more like a downgrade :/

Is the gear vr just for mobile use or will it work with the pc to like the rift? cause id rather just get that and be done. I don't need multiple head sets lying around.

I've been trying numerous things with the oculus rift and even though there have been many issues im still falling in love with this wonderful device. Anyways, I've begun trying the oculus rift with Borderlands 2 and there are ways for me to navigate the screens but the view just seems far too close and that makes it very difficult for using the menus and inventory. In order to fix this I went into one of the scripts and changed it so that I may enhance the fov of the game, this helps only slightly as everything still seems to wide spread and far apart, the health gauges and such cannot be seen unless using the middle mouse button. If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this that would be very appreciated, thank you all again and have a good night.

happy gaming everyone

I bought a dk2 and can't wait for it to come. Super excited

I am the owner of a oculus rift DK2.I have a question for the oculus team... It is legal sell oculus by ebay or without shipping? Some of my friend are interested to buy mine... Where I can sell my oculus if is it possible?ThanksTheCombative

So at first many of the apps for OR made me a bit ill in the stomach. So I started to experiment with my own project and the Rift. After 2 hours of fidgeting with the Rift and my project.... no more motion sickness. Some people even are squakin about suing...lol.. lamers. You can't sue due to your lack of developer skills sorry... hate to be the bearer of bad news. And if you try... I'd be the first one there with 20 years of VR under my belt to give expert testimony that your extremely stupid. Only one issue remains.... I noticed: say a light post close to the camera view will make you see double while all the buildings don't. Unsure how to work that out. But I'm sure there is a way. Gotta be something to do with the software we used. This being said... those who think it's Oculus's fault they get sick.... might wanna recheck that.... we have a whole 200 block city with lights signs everything you'd expect to find in a futuristic city.... and your in a hover car flying in and around

Hi,I am quite new to this topic and was wondering whether you can provide me a piece of advise:We are looking at implementing a "virtual reality" project where you have an opportunity to go through sour property in virtual reality (go through rooms, look outside the balcony etc.)Could you, please, let me know who is the best provider for this? thanks a lot for your help

Great idea. It still seems a little expensive, but I might start saving pizza boxes for a DIY version. Maybe someday an AR version with just markers printed on it so you can easily change the look and flick virtual switches.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1117888467/jet-fighter-cockpit-in-your-living-room

So all the LGA1150 motherboards I can find only have 8x support for PCI Express 3.0 with two GPU's.Doesn't the standard support two x16 PCIE 3.0?So basically to get the max out of a SLI setup with the 980 you'll have to go to LGA2011?Or am I missing some motherboard out there that does support this on LGA 1150?

I just got an opportunity to buy a used gtx 770 2GB and I was wondering if it's worth getting it. Right now I'm using GTX 650 Ti with 2GB and while lots of demos work fine, I'm getting low frame rate on more advanced ones (like Technolust, Sightline, etc.). I was wondering if a jump from my card to gtx 770 is worth its price (I'll basically have to give only 160 eur). I know I'll probably have to switch again for CV1, but for DK2 it should probably be ok?

Hi guys,New here. Just one question. If I was to order an Oculus Rift DK2 now - what would be a "realistic estimate arrival" for Melbourne, Australia? It's hard for me to get my head around all the information - with back orders only being filled now, some have waited months, few have waited weeks. Thanks in advance for any information about this.

View Master was my first introduction to stereoscopic imagery. It impacted me so much I became a collector. My prized possession is an original in box, 1939 model A. I even have the instruction booklet, warranty paper, and 3 discs.Does anyone else here have a little place in their heart for View Master? Share the love! :D

Hello everyone!I'm currently sellling my Oculus Rift DK1 on Ebay to upgrade, and came up with a question:How long is the original HDMI cable that came with the DK1?I have several similar looking cables here, so there is some minor confusion. Thanks in advance!Edit:The front of my manual says:6ft HDMI Cable 3ft HDMI CableWere there really two cables, If you only need one ?

Hey guys! I do video for youtube yada yada yada. To get to the point when I record using fraps it saves as .avi, which has never been a problem, however when I record Oculus gameplay with fraps the video takes FOREVER to even load in VLC and when I try to render it in Sony Vegas it takes a good 3 minutes to load a 1 minute clip. It also crashes on rendering. So I was wondering how others record and render Rift videos, any advice?Specs:Nvidea GTX 7708gb RAMCore i7 920 2.67GHz

So far I was using "VSync on" option in my GPU settings (gtx 970) and I'm wondering if "adaptive" is better option for VR? Also, does VSync add latency? Thanks!

I just installed the new runtime and my motion sickness is gone. It could just be me, but it seems like a huge difference. Is that totally insane? :?:

This is such an interesting projectTake a look: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/124900576/hooke-wireless-3d-audio-headphones
