Quest 3 stuck in an update boot loop

I own two Meta Quest 3 devices with Meta Warranty Plus coverage.

I am experiencing the endless boot loop with one of the devices as described in the following threads:

https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/QUEST-3-STUCK-ON-LOGO-AND-DOESN-T-START-UP/td-p/1111493

https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/My-Quest-3-is-stuck-in-bootloop-with-Turining-META-logo/td-p/1113431

https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/My-quest-3-won-t-launch-and-will-only-display-the-meta-logo/td-p/1138261

To summarize:

After power up, device displays "disk" logo with down arrow and green progress bar
After progress bar completes, meta logo appears, spins, fades, and repeats endlessly (have left device plugged in overnight with no progress)
Video of the above taken by my phone of my headset is posted here: https://youtube.com/shorts/qpD6hcmvSXw?feature=share

In answer to commonly requested questions from similar threads:

The issue began on 2024/02/12 at approx 8 PM EST.

The headset had been successfully paired with the Meta Quest app on my phone and had been in use since mid-January 2024.

The headset had previously updated apps.  I'm unaware if the OS and / or firmware had performed any updates.

No error messages have been displayed, only the behavior as described and linked in video above.

All accessories have been removed from the headset.

Headset was fully charged when the issue began, has been allowed to fully discharge, and has fully charged again (LED is green).  Issue persists.

Two factory resets have been performed via power button and - volume key combination.  Issue persists immediately after the reset with no successful boot.

Headset was purchased directly from Meta in January, has had no other owners and has been used with care and stored in appropriate conditions free of sunlight, excessive heat, etc.

I own the original device box with barcodes and serial numbers.

Please advise of steps to have this issue rectified.

Hi there! We are sad to hear that your VR experience has been interrupted by your Quest 3 headset not booting up completely. This is not the experience we want for you, and so we want to help provide some troubleshooting steps and resources to help get you back into VR as soon as possible. One reason that you may be experiencing this issue is due to a low battery charge on your headset. So if you have confirmed that the headset is fully charged (the LED light will turn green) after plugging in the headset for at least 2 hours, and if a factory reset did not help, then we ask that you please send us a PM so that we can collect some sensitive information and continue providing you with support. Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

Same problem here, it has been the worst Christmas my son has ever had, these devices were just purchased and they don't work.

Meta advised me to do a Factory reset which in my case did fix the issue and I did not lose any games or settings. Worth a try hope it fixes your issue.

In my case it didn't work, and I was stuck in the boot loop, when I pressed the factory reset, it returned to the menu.

I'm having the exact same issue and it's even more frustrating because this is the SECOND Oculus 3 i've purchased in the last week and both headsets seem to be broken!

I just got my Q3 today and was working fine earlier played games and got to use the web browser. After sitting on the charger and trying to boot it back up, I am now stuck on the infinite boot screen. Same thing as what has already been mentioned before. Tried power cycling and factory resetting but the issue still persists. How do I get this fixed?? Do I have to send this in or get a replacement? Literally haven’t even had this thing for 24 hours!

DayK57  return it to the store you got it from and get a replacement. If you bought it directly from meta, insist on your money back as their policy is to send you a sweaty refurbished unit.

Well I didn’t not buy this. Rather won it as a prize in a work program. Was very excited for this thing since I always wanted one. Surely there is still a warranty regardless and meta absolutely needs to replace it. I’ve tried every solution but the thing is a brick now

My device froze mid workout. I could hear the sounds, but the screen just froze. I forced it to shut down and after that my device won't boot. It shows the update animation and after that the spinning meta logo and little after that just blank screen. Tried to factory reset twice but doesn't work. Please help. This is the second device that is faulty.

Hi Ariquois πŸ™‚

if you use the Quest for workout, your problem is maybe caused by sweat/moisture that gets inside the headset.

Look that thread:

Solved: 4 headset replacements in 4 months

If you have still warranty on the Quest, use it and a get another one.

And maybe use one of this open/breathable facial interfaces when doing workout.

Okay. I sent a message to meta support. I have a halo headstrap and I've been careful so sweat wouldn't get in to the device but likely I've been unsuccessful.

I have the same problem. Contacted support via DM, got redirected to another support person. End of the story is: Meta broke my device with an update, there is nothing I can do about it (tried even sideloading via the Meta page and from the console (adb sideload). Meta refuses to do anything about it and only offers me a refurbished device for $350. Anyone else interested in joining a class action lawsuit against Meta?

Hi Davidcoffey619 πŸ™‚

You said in another post that your Quest is only a couple of months old. So, you still have warranty on it.

Since you already tried factory reset without success, you might need a replacement.

You should contact support.

You can do that via email, chat or WhatsApp here.

If you have access to a PC, you can also try the Quest update tool to see if that helps..... I don't believe. though.
