Hey guys!Just got my Rift yesterday and have been lugging it around everywhere I go showing off some of the demos on my laptop. The reactions are overall pretty positive and can't wait to start getting my hands a little dirty working on it. (Probably when things calm down at work...)I did have an observation though and I was wondering if anyone else had noticed it.Now you have to understand, I don't remember the last time I had a dream. My job is pretty fun but very routine and after playing in the Rift for only about 30 minutes (all I could manage before I started feeling a little unwell) I had a night full of crazy detailed dreams that I can actually recall.Anyone else notice a difference in their sleep?

Hi Peeps,I'm new here. I will be ordering my rift soon. What I really want to know is about the programming. I see many different kits mentioned. Are there pros and cons to which one to use? My programming skills are mainly in C#, what would be the easiest transition to make? What kind of media can be used for this? Is it all 3D animation, or can you use photos, video?Todd

I have read a lot that VR would be much better with a curved screen. With this in mind maybe they should have a word with apple as they have one out on the market right nowhttp://betanews.com/2014/09/24/if-your-iphone-6-or-6-plus-bends-its-apples-fault/;)

Took me 6 hours yesterday to design a box in 3dsMax.. /sigh. Hopefully, the animation and UVMapping will go by a bit faster :?

Really awesome news. I couldn't find any thread about this on the forums, so there you go:https://github.com/OculusVR/RiftDK1....do you do make diy oculus rift dk1?or do you do post reverse engineer dk2 on github?do you are do have dk2 or dk1 and your make reverse engineer?

This is a place for everyone to post stories of their adventures in virtual reality.

Happy Birthday! May the Virtual Reality Be With You! :)

If anyone is interested (or is searching) for texts and theories on virtual spaces and designs - a list is here:http://isovista.org/art-design/theoryIts grouped by academic domain (Game Design, Architecture, Computer Sci, Film, etc)For the curious, the first technology of VR dates back to the 1500'sIt was called the Camera ObscuraBelow is a description:"Now for a conclusion I will add that, then which nothing can be more pleasant for great men, and scholars, and ingenious persons to behold. That in a dark chamber by white sheets objected, one may see as clearly and perspicuously, as if they were before his eyes, huntings, banquets, armies of enemies, plays, and all things else that one desires. Let there be over against that chamber, where you desire to represent things, some spacious plain, where the sun can freely shine. Upon that you shall set trees in order, also woods, mountains, rivers, and animals that are really so, or made by art, of wood, or some other matter. You must fra

Too much talk about this lawn cutting man. The Zero Theorem is the greatest movie about VR ever. Long live Mancom.

So during the horrible audio during game24; decided to build / finish building, the budget for some new equipment. Figured I would share if anyone is interested in doing the same; I am 90% sure that this should run the CV1 when it releases.. and if my prediction on the CV1 release date is somewhat correct, it should all fall into place like a perfect game of tetris :P ButtKicker Audio Haptics: $1200BKA-1000-N: $400Mini LFE x2: $220Mini LFE x2: $220Quick Connect Quick Select Package: $120Gamer 2: $150SimVibe Software: $90Ergonomic Cockpit: $1620Obutto R3volution: $800Triple Monitor Mount: $130Acrylic tabletops: $ 135Obutto Shifter Mount: $65Asus PB278Q 27" Monitor: $490New Gaming System: $6966Rosewill RSV-L4000 4U Rackmount Server Chassis: $94 Asus Rampage V Extreme LGA 2011-v3 x99: $500 Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-core x99: $1050 G Skill Ripjaw 4 DDR4 3000 (64GB total) Quad Kit x2: $1460 Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW SATA III SSD x2: $ 500 (Raid 1 - OS)Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW SA

I'm currently reading "The Black Swan" with an eye toward his view of game changing events. In the course of reading, I came across this quote, "If you engage in a Black Swan-dependent activity, it is better to be part of a group." (P.94)Indeed. This forum and Oculus Connect are building that self-reinforcing group. Because of this community much more is possible than before it's creation. Thanks Oculus!

I use Everything. http://www.voidtools.comFree and small. I'd hate to be without it.I used to like Search GT but they never updated it for newer Windows (anything after XP).

SolvedI was contacted by Oculus Support team today, and they were very helpful. They assured me that my order was fine.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1663270989/project-perception-neuron?ref=discoveryI didn't see this anywhere and i felt it was worth noting that it successfully puts your body and motions into here. I would even go a little farther and say "possible oculus input system found" But, you know how it goes, that's a big assumption. I felt this was WELL worth sharing.

This might be a good poor man's Elite Dangerous.Seems they are remaking "SOL:Exodus" and calling it "Exodus of SOL".http://store.steampowered.com/app/282620/The developers have rift kits and seem likely to add VR support. The early access on Steam is $19.99. If you own "SOL:Exodus" it's 50% off $9.99."SOL:Exodus" (Steam activation) is part of the $2.49 Indie Jam 4 bundle on BundleStars right now.http://www.bundlestars.com/all-bundles/indie-jam-4-bundle/So you get "SOL:Exodus" and "Exodus of SOL" pus 9 other small games for $12.48 if you activate "SOL:Exodus" before purchasing "Exodus of SOL".

Just came across a news story from DARPA:http://inhomelandsecurity.com/darpa-to-give-the-american-soldier-a-boost/Basically robotic assistance to run a 4m mile. The link also lists the current official record. Now, you would think that they would look through PT cards before they made the claim. In 2001, while stationed in germany, I ran an officially timed (for our PT Test), 2 mile in 7.5 minutes. I still have that PT card somewhere in my boxes. At the time, sadly, I was more concerned about being "unknown" due to what I was looking to do, however, you would think DARPA would do some fact checking before releasing media articles.GRR..

Hello everyone,I've just published an instructable in which I show how to build your own wireless glove that can be used as input device for VR games. The glove communicate through bluetooth with Android phones or computer. The device take as input the fingertips touch events as well as the player's wrist orientation/motion and pass it to the phone/computer. I made a plugin for Unity3D so that the glove can be used as input device in Unity3D games. Here is the link to the instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Gravity-Touch-bluetooth-glove/A demo video of the device (I use Dorovis Dive in the video, but it can work out of the box with both Oculus Rift or Samsung gear VR): http://youtu.be/fSEpayrEMdEVR headsets are great, but I think that it's now time to think at new kind of controllers, more adapted to the VR experience. This prototype is a try in this direction. It works pretty well and it give a nice impression of "natural" control !Let me know what you think about it and wha

Hello,I did wait a big amount of time and i start to be really impatient about when my oculus is going to be shipped (if it's going to ?)I don't really understand how it's done because i bought one before one of my friend and he already received it, but still i don't even have a single new about what's going on, i did contact the support and they don't know either.I think there's a bit of a lack of communication on this point because the only information you get is "Your order is awaiting inventory before it can be fulfilled. We will notify you when it's about to be shipped." And it seems that the ship is people randomly selected between people that paid. Can i get more informations about that please ? And do you have an approximative date about the future shipments ? (In France).I heard everywhere it was gonna be in september and half the month has passed so. I need to work on my games but i just can't for the moment :D Regards

Hi!I am conducting a survey related to VR sickness and it would be awesome if you could please help me out by answering a few questions. It won't take long and I will be sharing the results publicly once I have a good number of responses.Thank you in advance for your help!Follow the link:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QJSLWRJ

Hey guys, Just received my rift on thursday and was excited to try it out, except I cannot get the display to power on. The rift is detected and I can see it in my monitor list but I cannot select it .I have tried 2 different video cards (R9 270X, and GTX 770), neither would allow me to extend or duplicate or even just select the rift to display. Both did detect the rift ...The light on the positional tracker is on, as well as the light on the top of the rift (the orange LED). I feel like I am either missing something really stupid or my unit is broken :(.nvidia control panel: http://i.imgur.com/eMERNLm.pngoculus configuration utility: http://i.imgur.com/SM96Gly.pngPlease help!!!

Hello everybody,I am a startupper and I am working hard for designing a new chair engineered to increase user immersion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersion_%28virtual_reality%29) in Virtual Reality, while Oculus Rift is increasing the presence. We did our brainstorming, but I definitely need your help for challenging our initial concept. Please note that the chair will be not specifically designed for gaming, but for home entertainment.Do you have idea / requirements that such a chair should have? Thanks for your support.Federico

This may sound weird, but does anyone have a link or the steps to solve the lament configuration? A quick search on google has not revealed anything that I could find.If you're curious, the lament configuration is the box from Hellraiser. Don't ask why I need the steps to solve
