Hi All,We're having an issue where shadows in our .exe dont render and it looks like the occlusion for some objects is flashing on and off for some of our users, take a look at the following videohttps://www.twitch.tv/cooleobrad/v/81674429If you scrub to anywhere past 5 minutes you can see the issue and here is a video of what the world should look likehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1F3usGZvMMThis is not happening to all of our users or on any of our dev machines and is thought to be a rift only problem at this point (no Vive complaints for now).We have tried the build on multiple different setups with different compontents (Nvidia, AMD, intel etc.) and have not be able to successful replicate the problem. We are using Unity 5.4 personal edition and the only thing we have changed since updating from 5.3 is single pass rendering, any thoughts? Please let me know if you need anymore info.Cheers,Colton

Hi,I'm planning to build a 1:1 model of the space I have the Rift setup in, which includes a table. I also want the headset to match the physical space positionally. Is there a way to adjust the player controller so that it lets the headset load in the proper space in relation to where the camera is setup? I think I'm looking for something more like a 'player controller' for the camera. So I can position the camera in the Unity scene to match the real one - and have the headset/player created in relation to that?

When I use OVRQUITMENU or exit to Oculus Home from Universal Menu, shouldn't the app/game shut down automatically ? If it should - then it's a bug. If not, what do I need to do to shut it down?If I do nothing, then when I get the phone out if Gear VR, the app is still running in the background. When using Gear VR, it takes away memory and processing power that could be utilized by another Gear VR app/game.Thanks.

Heyo,we made a build of our game 'VR Flush' in ue 4.9 a while ago. Now, that I finally have the time to release it, it doesnt work with the latest oculus runtime anymore. The build still works with the 0800 runtime. What do I need to do to make it playable for everyone (Without having to tell them to downgrade to the 0800 runtime first)? I can rebuild it in 4.9, but I really don't want to migrate it to a newer ue4 version - That would be a ton of work....What can I do?We d really appreciate your help :))It would be a shame not to release it..iNvi

First my game is gonna be like a real life game .open world.  And i have to  deal and implement the Head look thing(ther'es a plugin for that and i've tested it and made changes to it and it kind of works but i need more practice)where characters from the game turn their heads to look at you. Then i got to deal with motion sickness and i'm not exactly sure how.But the most dreading thing is having to prepare the characters. I want many characters in my game. Some good, some enemies. But since there's no simple direct way to import them prepared( I'm using DAZ characters) it's taking so long to prepare the characters. At least i need to have 20 at a time on an outdoor level. and those are the good guys just moving around and interacting with you if you ask them something or somehting. But then there's the enemies which i'll spawn. Anyways, for every character i import i got to first dress them differently, make sure no poke through, and like i said it's not just one. It's many c

I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure this out but have not come up with a conclusion. I'd appreciate if anyone has experienced the same and any thoughts.Basically, I'm noticing that if I have a scene with text in it (world canvas and UI text component), when I build for GearVR with Unity's VR support, the text aliases like crazy. To be honest I'm not even sure 100% if it is plain old aliasing. The text just constantly shimmers. I tried moving things around in case, for some reason, I was getting z fighting on the canvas but it seems it is not.I tried enabling anti aliasing from the quality settings and neither does it seem to make a difference. Also seems like I need to create a new quality preset and set it as the default for Android for the antialiasing to even take effect when running on the GearVR.I tried tweaking the Canvas Scaler Dynamic and Reference pixels/unit settings (which are not entirely clear to me from the docs btw). But at most, I was able to make the text

The jumps are really fast and come down quickly to the ground. Much less can you do a moving forward while jumping .   Can it be fixed?the current code is this:if (!Controller.isGrounded)            return false;        MoveThrottle += new Vector3(0, transform.lossyScale.y * JumpForce, 0);        return true;With the XBOX One controler you can even hold down the button for jumping( in my case Y) and it just keeps doing super quick jumps.

I just have the climb, lucky's tale, and farlans. i don't feel presence. i do alittle but not much. But im thinking it's because those games are not meant to make you feel presence. I'm creating a First perspective VR game where basically you live your life. you live in a house, you visit places, you interact with objects. grab throw, perform as a musician, drive cars. ..There's actual sound in the environement and at times even music tracks. you interact with characters. you exert force on objects to throw them, pull them etc. and you can see your own hands/arms(not own, but using FPS arms). Like when i play the climb seeing my hands in front of me feels like i'm part of the scene. so that helps alot. Anyways, can i achieve presence the way i'm interacting with the world and the way i use physics and effects.?  and the way i can see my own body( Yeah i can even see my legs torso and arms and hands.    No matter what i'll still have tons of fun when i play it.

So I've been working with DirectX and the oculus sdk in visual studio. I have worked with directX before and understand how to render with it. So I went about looking at the sample projects. I have built the simple room sample and it works fine. I then wrote my own program to try an mimic the sample. I've followed the sample from start to finish just structured it slightly different and it wont render properly. I get a while hourglass symbol in the lower right, I'm so stumped as to why its not working I'm not even trying to render an object . All I'm doing is clearing the render targets, commiting the textures for both eyes, creating the layer and submitting the frame. If some kind soul could offer suggestions I would most appreciate it.

Hey All,Are any developers having issues with the ovrscreenfade.cs and the latest unity beta 5.4b24? It seems that the screen only fades the very first time in my first scene, after that fading out or fading new scenes don't work? Also, I had to change the corner positions on the quad to even see it as the (0,0), (1,0), (1,1), (0,1) coords appeared as a small square in the middle of the screen, should this be happening?Cheers,Colton

Hi guys just wondering if there is a reference page for all the API functions similar to the msdn pages or does one have to dig through the source to find them?

So I've rendered but a simple textured square in the rift, however when I rotated my head it horizontally the square remains centered in my view. I am guessing I have to apply an opposite rotation to the camera. My question is this the correct way to do it or did I somehow mess up with my camera rotations. Thing is if I move my head vertically it does not stay centered but acts how I would expect.

I WAS THINKING OF A TECH WHICH IS CAPABLE OF TRANSLATING LANGUAGES THROUGH A HEADSET X VR...IT WILL BE A USEFUL TECH, THERE'S NO NEED FOR GOOGLE TRANSLATE....FOR EXAMPLE: I SPEAK ENGLISH AND THE PERSON I WAS TALKING TO IS A CHINESE, SO THROUGH THAT TECH IT WILL HELP US UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER WITHOUT LEARNING LOT OF LANGUAGES. JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIE "MARS NEED MOM",THEY ALSO HAVE A TRANSLATOR DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO TRANSLATE MARTIAN LANGUAGES THROUGH HUMAN LANGUAGES TOO.SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE MESSAGE FOR MORE...ALSO PLEASE RECRUIT ME IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUILD THAT TECH, COZ I WANNA BE WITH THAT TECH TOO ^^(MY OPINION)CAN WE BUILD OUR FUTURE?

I'm new to the world of VR and I want to buy a rift but my problem is that I won't be able to upgrade my GPU for a while (maybe Christmas I will). Will my GTX 960 be able to run Oculus Rift? I know it does say recommended GTX 970 however I'm here to see what you guys think (even personal experiences).my build:MSI  Nvidia GTX 960 gaming edition 2G8GB RAMi5 4690K @ 3.50 GHz

Hi!I'm integrating a tracking system (Optix) and plan to use a 'laptop in a backpack' setup to allow tracking throughout a large space (20' by 22').  I currently have the tracking software working correctly with the Oculus and Unity, took a bit to figure out removing the position tracker and converting the Optix output to local space for the camera! The other detail with my setup is that the plan is to use video encoding/decoding from a powerful machine to the laptop/backpack setup.  I would prefer to just ship a warped image directly, and not have the laptop do the work. To hopefully keep this on topic for the warping issue, my tests have done screen-scraping for a DK2 at around 200hz with around a 5ms delay from server to client, and I believe I can get these numbers much lower.Currently my screen scraping software uses NvFBC, which targets a desktop.  From previous tests using the tuscany demo that provided a warp without an HMD attached (just displayed to the main des

There's a LOOKAT function in unity i'm not exactly sure how to use it. I used to know but haven't developed in a while .But i want to use that to make the character who would be shorter or taller than me face me with his head pointing at mine. I would guess he would be pointing at my oculus rift camera. How do i do it?Becaise most examples out there just make objects LOOKAT other objects, in other words turn their whole facing towards them BUT they dont specifically tackle the issue of tilting the head up

I see quite often in the activity reel that 400+ members have just joined the fray but can Cybereality divulge what the total number of members are here just out of interest. I know there's a lot of dev and Oculus employee lurkers here too and I guess for indie developers (or porn sites) there's a motive to make a topic to get <insert game or porn site here> noticed.

I know you're all familiar with how in Oculus home or some other calibration thing or in Farlands....a dot is placed  on the objects that are in alignement with the center view of the headset and you can interact with those objects or creatures.Well i want to know how to do a similar thing for my game. How does an object detect that the headset viewing line is within it's boundaries. NOTE that i would surround small things with invisible gameobjects as detectors. But anyway, if my center view HITS that detector then that means i can have some interaction with that object. But i only want it on the nearest to me or top most thing. I don't want several items to be affected.   So for example look at a switch on the wall and  it detects if you look at it( at the gameobject cube thta i'm going to surround it with) and once that happens i can press a Button on the xbox controller and can switch light on or off. Same with a lamp, same with a TV etc. So what's the method/ t

Like cubes. there's like  2 feet distance between me and the cube but just at certain parts. What to do to make it behave better?

Hello,I have a sbs video 1280x720 60 fps. When I watch it in the oculus cinema for samsung gear vr it is enlarged in the x axis.I need to know at which resolution should I encode it.Anyone can help me?Thanks a lot.

Hi,I am currently trying to get audio input from the Oculus microphone through the Oculus Platform in unity but am not sure if it is possible. I think it is possible because of the information on this webpage but am unable to find it in unity. Can someone please help?

So while developing for Oculus with Unity I've noticed a sort of after image appear when i shake my head back and forth/move it (not even fairly quick). It's most notable with black text on white background, but happens for all objects in the scene. The image moves fine, but there's like an afterimage that has to catch up.Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a way to prevent this? This happens both when building/testing the scene in the Unity editor & after I've built the scene and compiled it.I'm running a GTX 970 & Core i5 4690k with 12GB ram. And the scene I'm running is just a ground with a wall and text and simple objects on it. Nothing fancy that would seem like it would tax the system.I'm kind of at a loss as to what to look at/for to try and prevent this.

Hi,I am trying to use "Oculus.Platform.Users.GetLoggedInUser()" but on the callback I get the error message:"StandalonePlatform doesn't support this function yet, did you mean to use WindowsPlatform?"I have looked in "Oculus.Platform.WindowsPlatform" and all I have found is an Initialize call which I believe is used by "Oculus.Platform.Core.Initialize"It could be because the "Oculus.Platform.Core.Initialize()" is creating a "StandalonePlatform" instead of a "WindowsPlatform" because of it being in the Editor but in that case is their a way round this? Can anyone please tell me if it's just "GetLoggedInUser" is not supported yet or if I need a workaround for this editor "StandalonePlatform" thing?

Can you update image assts for a game on the developer dashboard while under review? Ive been under review for almost a month.

Hello..I just started into VR. I am developing for gear VR. I am using Unity 5.3.4p6. I have imported ovr_unity_utilities_1.3.2 from oculus downloads. I have replaced oculus data files from OVRPlugin_Unity5_1.3.2 as suggested into unity installed folder. then I also enable VR from player settings. when I press play button I get this error.[VRDevice] Initialization of device oculus failed. I have tried also other Unity versions like 5.3.4f1. but same error occurs.Any help is appreciated.
