Solved

Hi, I'm developing a roomscale game and I use OVRManager.boundary.GetGeometry(OVRBoundary.BoundaryType.OuterBoundary) to create a custom in-game visible boundary so that the player can align their playspace to the in-game playspace as they like. As part of this process they may decide to update their guardian, but then the geometry I previously fetched is out of date. One way to solve this would be to have an in-game way for the player to reset the in-game boundary and I would then just refetch the boundary. However, I'd prefer to automatically detect any change. I can't for the life of me find an efficient way to do this or any events. My other thought is to just re-fetch and re-build the in-game boundary every couple of seconds but that also feels a bit lame 🙂 Help!

According to the hand tracking documentation, there should be a dropdown under the Quest Features section of the OVRCameraRig but the only options I have are "Focus Aware", "Hand Tracking Support", and "Requires System Keyboard". I am using Unity 2019.4.16f1, Oculus XR Integration 1.9.1, and have set my device as the Quest 2. I upgraded the plugin to the available preview version but still don't see such a setting on the prefab. Is the documentation just well ahead of the feature (first time I'd have seen that!) or do I have to change something to enable the feature?

I'm trying to develop a game for the oculus quest, in which you can play a guitar. The guitar takes two hands to operate, and after a while of searching I haven't found anything within the Oculus Integration Package that makes this possible, and the advice given was to switch to unitys VR-SDK, XR.It seems like a really stupid limitation, not being able to grab something with both hands. It must be possible, right?Would greatly appreciate any and all help, Thank you! 😄

I'm currently evaluating how feasible adding a native Oculus SDK version of Holodance is and the greatest challenge I see so far is porting our approach to loading scenes over. The way we currently do this is based on Valve's SteamVR_LoadLevel example. In a nutshell: Set the skybox for the compositor, set a load texture in front of the player in the compositor, fade the game to the compositor, once that is done, stop rendering to VR (because the player now only sees what's in the compositor), start loading the scene and wait until it's done, do other things that could cause hiccups like prewarming shaders and a garbage collection round, start rendering to VR, fade back in. Play.In addition to what the standard SteamVR_LoadLevel does, we render a preview of the level that is being loaded, with some text and a progress bar using Unity UI, into a RenderTexture that we also show and update on changes in the compositor. Also, to make things a little more fancy, we have several textures on qu

So I'm developing a VR game with a full body avatar for the Oculus Quest. I've already developed the Player Rig for SteamVR and would like to convert this to Oculus. I've managed to get the arms and legs working, but now I need to rig the fingers properly. For steam, I can listen for a function called RenderModelLoaded and it would tell me when the hands are there and available. When those hands spawn in, I "link" the movement of the SteamVR fingers to the fingers of the full body avatar. So when using the Index controllers, the player has finger tracking. Following the same architecture. I'd like to use the hands that spawn in from the OVR Avatar, but I don't know if there's a function I can listen for or an event I can subscribe to that says "Hey the hands have loaded" now rig the avatar.I'm curious as to how others are currently detecting when the hands have loaded? I've also thought about creating a set of custom hands that get loaded and was curious as to how other have approached

In Unity 2019.3 what are the steps to render Oculus Avatars using the Universal Render Pipeline? They currently display as pink.

I would like to toggle OVRGrabbale on a game object, subject to a boolean condition.  As an example, a virtual "screw":- when it is screwed into a hole (engaged), it SHOULD NOT be grabbable by the player- when it is unscrewed (dis-engaged), it SHOULD be grabbable by the playerMy understanding is the boolean attribute "allowOffhandGrab" can / should be used for this, however this attribute is only read-only in OVRGrabbable.cs.Adding a setter in OVRGrabbable.cs has not had any effect on disabling OVRGrabbable during runtime./// <summary> /// If true, the object can currently be grabbed. /// </summary>    public bool allowOffhandGrab    {        get { return m_allowOffhandGrab; }        set { m_allowOffhandGrab = value; }     // Added to test grabbablity switching (ie. on / off) but does not seem to work    }As a partial workaround solution, I've also tried enabling / disabling the g

Hi, I'm having an issue with android version not updating. I'm developing an apk with Unity3D for the Quest and Quest 2. The first submission on AppLab came back with some feedback which I've addressed, and I tried to upload a new build for submission. The issue I'm having is that while trying to upload a new build,  it throws an error and tells me that I need to +1 the build number. I've done this in the Unity editor through OculusPlatformSettings with no luck. I tried again with generating a store-compatible AndroidManifest.xml and changed the [android:version=="1"] to 2 myself, built, then tried again with no luck.  Lastly I went through the link I was provided with the error to install Apktool and use that which I've also tried, again with no luck. Something seems to be setting the version number to 1 or failing to successfully set it to 2.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Using the oculus online subsystem I have not been able to join another users session (matchmaking or room). I've integrated the Unreal OVR SDK sample, added my oculus app ID, changed the matchmaking key to my own which is user and system created, and am running two separate packaged instanced on separate machines that are using separate internet connections so that unreal doesn't revert to it's own subsystem that I've seen can happen automatically over LAN. I can search for sessions correctly and see what oculus user is hosting but always fail to join. I've included my log files that show a connection being attempted but I can't figure out the exact issue that's stopping a connection from being accepted. The pertinent line seems to be: [2021.05.22-00.56.06:086][226]LogNet: UChannel::Close: Sending CloseBunch. ChIndex == 0. Name: [UChannel] ChIndex: 0, Closing: 0 [UNetConnection] RemoteAddr: 4097954510325963.oculus, Name: OculusNetConnection_2147482471, Driver: PendingNetDrive

I use Oculus LipSync in my application for Quest and Rift. Articulation works fine. I can record facial blendshapes with my code and then playback the recorded articulations via C# code later. Now I am trying to record the speech while Oculus asset performs lipsync. But I cannot get the sound from microphone because OVRLipSyncMicInput.cs starts capturing sound from microphone into temporary audioclip with 1-second duration, therefore my recording from microphone conflicts with Oculus code. How can I record the sound during Oculus lipsync to play it later simultaneously with recorded lipsync? I use Unity 2019.4.25f1, Oculus Integration 28.0.

Hello. I am trying to figure out how to use the OVRInputModule in my game with 2 controllers. I want to have 2 laser beam that comes out of each controller, very similar to how the UI works in the dashboard. However, I can only get one laser to move and be attached to its controller at once. This is my hierarchy.  And these are the details of my EventSystem In the OVRInputModule, if the RayTransform and Cursor are set to the ConquestOVRLaserPointer that is a child of the RightControllerAnchor, the laser attached to the right controller will move when the right controller does, but the left laser will not move. If, on the other hand, I set the RayTransform and Cursor to the ConquestOVRLaserPointer that is a child of the LeftControllerAnchor, then the laser attached to the left controller will move when the left controller does and the right laser will not move. Since there is only one on RayTransform and Cursor slot, how do I get it so that the lasers attac

Which requiredFeatures or optionalFeatures does the Oculus browser support on Quest (1 or 2)?From this Stackoverflow-post: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/61291789/how-to-set-highrefreshrate-in-webxr we get some suggestions about features that can be enabled/changed:Foveation: no-fixed-foveation, low-fixed-foveation-level, medium-fixed-foveation-level, high-fixed-foveation-levelRefresh rate: low-refresh-rate, high-refresh-rateStill, when trying this out, only refresh rate works:navigator.xr.requestSession('immersive-vr', { requiredFeatures: ['local-floor'], optionalFeatures: ['low-refresh-rate'] })The above will get me lower refresh rate so that one works!!However,navigator.xr.requestSession('immersive-vr', { requiredFeatures: ['local-floor'], optionalFeatures: ['high-fixed-foveation-level'] })...has no effect...Do we have any official documentation on this??? HiI want my game to run on Oculus Quest 2 headsets, but I don't plan to support Oculus Quest 1 headsets.  I'm developing in Unity. In the Unity Editor I have set Project settings -> XR Plug-in Management -> Oculus -> Target Devices to have Quest 2 ticked, and Quest unticked, BUT when I upload the build to the Oculus Developer Dashboard and preview my Product Details Page (PDP) it says that the game supports Quest & Quest 2. Is there some special way for me to tell the Dev Dashboard that I don't support Quest 1? Thanks for any help Paul

Hi, Now that Oculus has officially discontinued Oculus Quest,I need to know whether I can still develop apps and games for Oculus Quest using Oculus Unity3D SDK.I need to know if there is a deadline for the apps that can be uploaded to the Oculus Store which was made for Quest onlyIn the Oculus documentation, it was mentioned like this "From the hardware standpoint, all apps that target Oculus Quest are automatically compatible to run on Oculus Quest 2". So does that mean if I develop apps for Quest, will it be supported for Quest 2 automatically, or do I need to do any additional changes in my app for it to support Oculus Quest 2 also.Since now, Oculus Go support has been deprecated by the Oculus Unity SDK, will there be any kind of similar issues, if I develop apps and games for Oculus Quest too in the near future? Can someone please answer these questions. Thanks.

Users of Unreal Blueprints an NOT make apps for App Lab at this time. Even if you manage to get past the herculean demands and labyrinthine hoops, at the end, you'll always be sabotaged by Android Permissions. The "ManifestRequirementsOverride.txt" can be used to turn off a few, but still others will require untouched. The rats nest of Plugins makes it more likely you'll disable your own game before you disable even a few of these "Permissions".  I found one solution, but it requires you RECOMPILE an entire Unreal Component and customize it to prevent Permissions from being asked. This is a daunting task for a Blueprint user. Unless Oculus relaxes their strict Permission policies or Epic finally makes a tool to remote all Permissions, Unreal Engine Blueprint users are sunk.

Hello,I have a question about the guardian boundary setting. How the oculus save/remember the guardian boundary setting?+ There should be a certain threshold that decides 'This environment was same as previous or not.'I want to know how oculus compares the previous/current environment and judge whether they are identical or not.Is there any open source/code/document related to this issue? Thanks.

Installed app o Iphone.  Everything works. Got my new Oculus Quest 2 last night. Paired it to my Iphone to download purchased games. The screen on my iphone went black. The games still uploaded to headset but screen stayed black until I closed and reopened. Is this normal?

Hello,Sometimes when firing a weapon, it sounds like the sound is playing twice. the map in the video below has no onsp geometry, though the glitch also happens sometime with geometry defined. this bug is also kinda rare, and only happens sometimes.https://youtu.be/0-NE_Kiug6Y

My unity project is running super well on Quest 2 at 72hz. I believe the game can run at 90hz but I have no clue where I can set the FPS limit/lock. Where / how do I set this FPS lock for my game?

I'm porting a game to Quest and so part of my work is to interface the engine's Vulkan renderer w/ the Oculus Mobile SDK.I believe I'm setting up the SDK correctly (I'm following the examples and the guidelines from Oculus' docs) but still I'm getting a nasty error when trying to submit a frame. Here's a high-level list of the things I'm currently doing:I initialize the API.I create a Vulkan instance and device w/ the expected extensions.I acquire per-eye swapchains and get Vulkan handlers for each of their images.I setup framebuffers and renderpasses using those images.I acquire a native android window.I enter VR mode (making sure the app is resumed). Then at the end of my render loop I setup an ovrSubmitFrameDesc and then call vrapi_SubmitFrame2(). I'm also making sure I only call vrapi_SubmitFrame2() after all work has been submitted to the GPU (I'm currently using a fence on my work queues). However, as I mentioned before, the call to vrapi_SubmitFrame2()

Hello, I am working on our game to include VR support using OpenXR. Everything is set up and working fine, and now I'd like to add support for ASW. I use the XR_KHR_composition_layer_depth extension, and provide the depth buffer in the XrCompositionLayerDepthInfoKHR structure as the next parameter of the XrCompositionLayerProjectionView for the runtime as in the docs. I am using D3D11, my depth swap chain is in DXGI_FORMAT_D32_FLOAT format, and I use reversed depth. As the result, all I can see is blocks, all around the screen. I can't post shots for legal reasions, but I have managed to reproduce this with one of the Microsoft sample applications for OpenXR: OpenXR-MixedReality/samples/BasicXrApp at main · microsoft/OpenXR-MixedReality · GitHub Here I get the following result which practically producing the same artifacts as in our game:Interestingly here it only affects the left eye, but in our game it is present for both eyes. If I disable ASW

Hello! I am new to VR development, and I am starting a new project by following the setup instructions on Oculus' website. This is what I notice: I have Unity installed, have setup my Quest 2 for Developer mode, and created a new project using the "3D" template.I go to File > Build Settings and switch to the Android PlatformI select my debug device as my OculusI click on the Switch Platform buttonI see Unity install several Oculus assets (takes about 10 - 15 minutes)I then proceed to install the Oculus Integration package, as per the instructionsI see Unity install several Oculus assets (takes about 10 - 15minutes)I then proceed to enable VR Support by installing the XR Plugin Framework, as per the instructionsI see Unity install several Oculus assets (takes about 10 - 15 minutes)I'm finally able to build an example app and launch it in my Oculus Quest 2 ExpectedI expected the Oculus assets to only be installed once and be able to build an app within minutes.&nbs

So I've got code that uses the OpenXR hand tracking extension, and it works perfectly with HoloLens 2 and the Leap Motion layer. On Quest, I can see the extension, xrGetSystemProperties reports it as available, I have the manifest settings configured and the app does not ask me to switch to controllers, but XrHandJointLocationsEXT::isActive always reports false when calling xrLocateHandJointsEXT!Any thoughts as to what I'm missing here? Is there some additional configuration I may have missed, or is this perhaps still buggy?Engine is custom, StereoKit, so it's native code. I'm using the 2020-12-04 (OpenXR 1.0.12) release of the Oculus OpenXR Mobile SDK.

I am trying to get my Quest2 to update to anything other then v23 - even trying to force it sideloading doesn't seem to work. I have factory reset, tried a number of things - turned on automatic update turned off automatic updates.I think it is pretty hard to test user bugs when you get a bug on a particular version of the software and your headset is stuck on some other version. There should at least be a way for developers with a game on the store to be able to install a particular version of the software. if you aren't going to have everyone on the same version that is. Any suggestions on how to get this thing to update? - it is a quest2 dev kit.

Hello. I'm creating a Mobile SDK application, and I'm experimenting a trouble when handling input: When I run my application from the dashboard vrapi_GetInputTrackingState returns ovrError_NotInitialized and Logcat shows:2021-04-14 19:25:18.131 12351-12457/com.oculus.sdk.vrcubeworldna W/VrApi_Input: vrapi_GetInputTrackingState: ovr->Destroyed If I start the application debugging everything runs correctly. What mean ovr->Destroyed? Thanks in advance.
